Update on Bentley Just wanted to give you guys an update on Bentley. I ended up taking him to the emergency vet that night, they took some chest x-rays and found he had a slight case of pneumonia, which was good that it was caught early. They hydrated him, gave him some meds and gave me a new prescription to give him. He seemed a lot more himself, then he had a little turn for the worse and stopped eating again but he seems to be doing better now. It appears he's coughing up all the phlegm and mucus that's in his lungs, so that's good right? He seems to be doing alot better, I've been feeding him rice and chicken and he's nibbling but only eats hardcore like once a day. I think it's because he ended up having a lot of diarrhea in his cage one night (I had no idea because he made no noise at all, I checked on him one hour and he was fine and then about 2 hours later it was everywhere) and he may have a bad taste for pooing now, but his diarrhea seems to have passed. Other than that, he's just been a perfect little man - he's sleeping on the couch right now and is very content. I'm just patiently waiting for this cold to pass. Thanks for everyone's help and well wishes. Bentley appreciates them greatly and so do I. |
I'm glad to hear Bentley is doing a bit better. It's always so hard when our furbabies get sick. Sometimes you just feel so helpless. I will continue to keep him in my prayers. Please keep us posted as to his progress. |
I am so happy Bentley is doing better. I am so glad you took him in it always is better to be safe than sorry with these little ones. |
Another update on Bentley: He went to the vet today and was diagnosed with hypoglycemia. They kept him for the day but his blood sugar did not stabilize. They recommended he go to a 24 hour vet hospital, however the price for the overnight stay was completely outrageous. So he is home tonight with strict feeding instructions, every hour (I'm having to force feed him currently). I'm getting so worried, I'm keeping him warm, feeding him every hour. I just feel so helpless. =( |
Sorry to hear Bentley's not feeling well. Cali had a very rough start with several episodes of hypoglycemia and she outgrew them, but I had to make sure she ate which was the hardest thing to do. I found she would eat little bits of cesar canned food (I know it is bad but until I could get her eating better I had to feed her that). Hopefully when Bentley is over his pneumonia and off his medicine his appetite will improve. |
I'm sorry to hear that Bentley is having a hard time of it. Here's hoping that he is soon on the road to total recovery. I will continue to keep him (and you) in my prayers. |
