Oh No I found a flea.... My animals get frontline....which has not worked recently....I found 1 flea on my Fergie. I ran to the local pet store and bought an all natural flea shampoo! Bathed all the animals including the cat. Found another flea 2 weeks later. We do not have any carpet and the dogs are only allowed in the living room and kitchen. I just can't seem to get rid of these buggers. They are all up to date on the bio-spot treatments. What should I do???? Help me please please please!:confused: |
I would get advantage from your vet. Ive used it for yrs and never saw another flea after using it |
We had our dog on frontline and got them about one year, here are some ideas that might help you! If you see them they are in the carpet! It does not take long for them to reproduce!!:thumbdown Vacum alot, and I mean alot. Then make sure you get rid of the bag or dump the tube outside. May sound strange, but if you have a plug in close to the carpet, place a night light and then a pan with soap in it, under the light. For some reason they will go to the light and then land in the water. They will drown in the soapy water, and you get to see them! Wash the bed that they lay in alot. |
I recommend a flea pill called Comfortis! You get it from the vet and its about $15 for 28 days. It works amazing. |
I have used K9 Advantix for over 2 years now and I have never seen 1 flea on Peanut! :thumbup: |

Natural alternatives for flea problem Hi, I'm new here, but want to impart some things I've learned from trying to eradicate fleas here. I'm VERY wary of chemicals. A friend's dog had seizures from a spot-on (Frontline or Advantage) I DID find a shampoo that kills fleas on contact- I bathed my dude and saw the little buggers die right in front of me. The shampoo is DeFlea by Natural Chemistry. They have a spray for bedding, etc. too- you can spray it on your dog too but it makes the fur kindof like Dippity Do would do to your hair. I recommend spraying day or two before a bath. You can use it every 3 days and it's safe to use with spot ons, if you choose to go that way. I called a holistic vet's office and they said that if I DO use Frontline to use half the recommended dose on the pkg and it'll still work, but to try it if the shampoo doesn't do the job, as a last resort. Holistic vets don't go for chemical treatments unless absolutely necessary OR over-vaccinating. |
Tucker has NEVER had fleas before, this year he got them. :thumbdown We have given him a flea bath every 2 days, and he now wears a flea collar. He went the groomer on Thursday and she said he was flea-free. Good luck!! they are nasty little buggers!! |
We saw a flea on one of our babies this summer and we were using Frontline on them. We called our vet and he said that Frontline (and ALL the other flea preventatives for that matter) do not kill the fleas UNTIL they bite the animal. So... I was told not to freak out but to bathe the dog in Dawn if I was concerned (or some other flea shampoo) but that the flea meds were doing their job.... just not how I think they should work.... if that makes sense. :confused: |
