Ulcer on the Eye Has anyone ever had the experience of having their Yorkshire Terrier with an ulcer on the eye~? Have you had them to wear a lampshade design on their head~? Has your dog gotten better from it~? I am not experiencing it and am worried. |
My first yorkie many years ago had an ulcer on his eye and it was pretty severe, but with drops and ointment he made a full recovery. We didn't use the lampshade thing as he didn't bother with the eye. I think the drops were some type of numbing agent so it didn't hurt him so much. I hope your baby's heals fast. |
What caused yours to have an ulcer~? |
Reese had an ulcer as the result of a puncture wound. I have no clue how he injured his eye only that he did. The puncture was not within his cornea (your largest concern) and he made a full recovery with drops and ointment. |
BUMP I'm worried about my Yorkie, and I hope he gets better. He's having eating issues with the lamp shade device on his neck. I've had to give him water thru a syringe a few times plus. It's only been one day. We've missed agility class tonight because of this ordeal. Anyone else had to deal with this issues~? |

Thanks for your reply. The lampshade collar really isn't bothering him that much today. He just can't scratch his head, so I have been doing it off and on. Then he can't get the ball too well when we are playing. Food has been a slight issue too. I appreciate your info. |
How long does he have to wear it? If i remember Karma's eye healed pretty quickly. |
I have no idea how long he has to wear it. I have to go back in one week for them to check his eye. If it gets worse before then, I need to go back sooner. Thanks for asking. |
Awe...that must be tough. I hope he makes a speedy recovery and I'll be checking in to see how he's doing. We have an eye issue of our own going on but not an ulcer. |
Sorry to hear about your fur baby. I'm currently at the end of treatment with my Oreo. Got a bad corneal burn due to shampoo getting in his eye during a bath. Treatment can take up to two weeks or more. But, in most cases, the eye will heal. Just as others have said, have you tried removing the cone? He may not even bother the eye at all. Or, if he does, you can always opt for a soft cone. Here is the link to the person who makes them. Wishing your furbaby a speedy recovery. http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/yor...ne-collar.html |
