Please reply ASAP Hie Guys, we have a 4 month old mini yorkie the other night he started vomitting, and has been now for about 3 day and nights - seems to be early hrs of the morning and before noon is happens at least 3 times in 24 hrs!!! Up to date with injections Stools are normal. Gums are normal colour Eating (mince meat fried in own juices, hubby also gave some raw) and drinking (milk / water) normal. Playing with kids like normal. took him to his brothers hse(whom he sees often) and was normal. If he wasnt vomiting you wouldn't say there is anything wrong with him. Do we worry, please help :animal36 |
Is the meat what he usually eats? If not why have you switched? Did he go off his food? I would eliminate the milk! If you have a good repore with your vet phone him. If not make an appt. |
What does his vet say? You mentioned feeding him fried mince meat. Anything fried is usually way to fatty for yorkies system to process. Also a lot of dogs are lactose intolerant. Either of these things could definitely cause vomiting in a yorkie. He needs to be eating a good quality food - that will probably help stop the vomiting. |
I must be honest when we got scrappy he was very spoilt, he has never eaten proper dog food - didnt matter which one we tried, he has always eaten what we eat eg meat rice and some gravy. The mince was dry fried in its own juices didnt add anything to it. he hasnt gone off his food just quiet fussy of what he eats. We would love for him to eat dog food and have bought and thrown away alot - any suggestions. Will not give him milk again Saying this makes me feel bad but we haven't taken him to the vet either as he seems to be normal in every other way so we dont really know what to do |
Anyone else with some advice please |
Please take him to the vet, he is so little. You'll feel better! |
sounds to me a little like hypoglycemic episodes--based on timing and no other symptoms--try more small meals! |
how often do you feed him? We call the mince meat, hamburger. Many people might not know what you are talking about. I would stop feeding it to him. It might be too much fat. Boiled chicken is good. cottage cheese, boiled eggs, rice, vegetables. I would get some sample packages of dog food and put several different kinds out. then stop feeding him the table food. Put corn syrup in his water to prevent hypoglycemia. Feed him a small amount of canned puppy food, lamb is good, in the morning, then leave the dry food out all day. You can feed him, a little more canned food in the evening, if you think he hasn't eaten all day. It might take a while, but I think eventually he will start to eat the dry food. Sometimes it works if you throw a few pieces of the dry on the floor. |

Thank you all for your advice he has a surprise coming to him, he will not be getting table food anymore will be cruel to be kind - dog food it is i'm sure if he is hungry he will eat it. i will get chicken as a back up for him incase he is STUBBORN i just dont want to starve him because like i said he wouldn't eat any of the dog food before. Thanks guys much appreciated!! x X X x from us and scrappy |
DIDN'T know they would even eat cottage cheese or boiled eggs. We will try anything to get him to eat like a NORMAL dog, he has dry food out all the time and we feed him twice a day - morning and night |
good luck, let us know how it goes. |
Will do thank you once again. I'm off to bed, just hope no vomit tonight and welcome to a new diet tomorrow. He wont know what he has done.. |

you can try boiled chicken and rice; if not you can try baby gerber food with some oatmeal; beef, chicken apple dinner and banana; you can mix bit of each. however, in the long run it's best if he eats dog food; mine has sensitive stomach and couldnt eat anything, she was very picky; until i tried the honest kitchen dehydrated raw food; and she's doing great now. also it's best to feed 3 or 4 small meals daily with the last meal a bit late to avoid emptying of the stomach which can lead to vomiting. good luck |
