Im so sorry for your loss:( |
Your poor, sick baby! I'm so sorry about your baby girl. I understand what your are going through, as my first yorkie, Mr Belvedere, had kennel cough! I got him from a pet store long before I knew about puppy mills. Well I had a guarantee on him which as long as I took him to the vet within 48 hours, the store had to cover the cost of vet bills if he was sick. And that was for life. Well Mr.B. was extremely sick. I can't count the times my vet would come to the office in the middle of the night and take care of my little boy. She pulled him through many times. Mr. B later developed cataracts and was completely blind because of them. Because of the best vet I have ever known, Dr. Karen Monahan, Helived to be8 years old. His poor heart suffered from the disease that he gotand it just couldn't sustain him any longer. I'm praying for you and you baby that she not suffer. God brought that little lady to you because he knew that you would love her and care for her. And if this 7 months that you have had her is all that you have with her, you will be blessed for loving her as you do. When Mr. B. died I didn't think I would survive. But I did a little at a time I got better. I began to think of him as being in a much better place and that he wasn't suffering any longer. I now have 6 little yorkies that live with me. They are the love of my life. So I guess the point is that you never give up hope that she will pull through. Because until she takes her last breath there is hope. Keep you chin up, I know it's hard. |
Oh My! I should have read further. I'm so so sorry for your lose. My prayers are with you. |

Oh sweetie... I am so very very sorry. They are so tiny and so precious ... any little thing can be disasterous when they are that small. I lost my first yorkie 3 days before he turned 5 months. It was so sudden and awful. My heart is just broken for you. Please don't leave here, not having a yorkie does not mean you can't post. I hope that in due time you'll come back and find another baby to love, a healthy baby. (((HUGS))) |
So very sorry for your loss of sweet Maddie... |

Hi everyone... I will be back every once in a while, maybe we will get another one someday. I am so scared though that it will happen again now. I have read all of these threads and posts on here and it seems like they are a very sickly little breed, it worries me so bad! A lady a work has a feist/fiest, however you spell it and she let us babysit her last night, it was nice, just not Maddie. She told us that we can keep her but my husband took her back this morning while I think about it. The breeder we got Maddie from is asking some of his breeder friends if they have any puppies that maybe he can give me, but I kind of don't think that he will call me back, but I guess I will have to hold my breath until then. I'm just confused, and my mother was so mad that we kept the other dog last night with Maddie only being buried since Tuesday, but then I have everyone else telling me that another dog will help me a little better. Thanks everyone |
I'm so glad you came back on here. The support on here can be so helpful and healing for you. As for getting another, I think when you feel ready that would be a great idea. It's true, these little ones can have some issues, but the joy that they give far outweighs any of that. I don't understand your mother getting upset with you for keeping the other dog overnight, but you do what you need to for your heart to heal. Praying for you and your little angel Maddie.:angelyork |
I too am glad you came back. YT members are great and can help during the grieving process. We are all here if you need to talk. yorkies do have their issues but you have to remember this is strictly a yorkie board and many times members start off coming here because they have a sick pet and are looking for help. I am a groomer and see many yorkies who are not sick and never have been. you will know when its time to get a new pet and if that pet should be another yorkie. |
Bless your heart. i'm so very sorry for the loss of your baby :( |
I'm really very, very sorry you lost your baby. She's now in heaven playing with my little Delsi, and all the others that have passed on. What ever you decide to do is entirly up to you and how you feel. Don't let anyones opinions make that decision for you. ;) |
Oh, Sweetie!!! I'm so sorry. Words can not begin to explain how we feel about our fur babies and only other yorkie lovers can understand your loss. I think your mother is just trying to protect you from more hurt, but life isn't worth living without love and sometimes losing that loved one. I know Maddie felt your love for her and she loved you! She wouldn't want you so unhappy and lonely. I agree that another puppy will help ease the lost love, but please...look at each puppy as an individual as there is only one Maddie, just like there will only be one of what ever new puppy you get. I hope this is making sense. I feel so bad that this has happened to you and wish I could give you a big hug. |
I too am glad you came back here. It is so very hard to lose a furbaby. Support means so much. I wish I would have known about this site when I lost my precious little girl last July. Yorkies do sometimes have issues but there are many many that lead very long healthy lives. You will know when it is time to get a new furbaby. When you are ready, maybe you can look here. There a lot of good breeders here. Please take care. I will continue to keep you in my prayers. |
our prayers are with you!! |
I am so so sorry for you're loss and I feel blessed to see you back on YT! I agree with all the other posts, we all understand all too well how devistated you feel. Lots of small breeds have health issues, but not ALL the babies get sick and when you see that little furbabie that looks into you're eyes, you'll know that one if for you! Please know that you are in my prayers! Take Care & God Bless! |
Sadly when you came here, you spent most of your time in the Sick/Emergency forum so it probably does seem that this is a sickly breed when you read a lot of those posts. I had to stop reading them and the RIP forum for a bit, they were making me so sad and I felt sooo bad for the pups and their owners. They are a small breed, but they are no more prone to their own breed issues as all other breeds. I feel so lucky, my boys are 4 years old and never had a problem, they were healthy from day 1 and still are (knock on wood). Yes they both got sick one time, I believe they ate duck poop. That was nothing though, they both recovered great. Your pup was small, sooo sooo small. Usually when they are that small they suffer from health problems no matter what you do. You did all you could. If you do decide to get another go for one that is a bit bigger. My boys are 5.5lbs and 9lbs... they are both good sizes, but my 9lber is just so sturdy and healthy! I still worry about my little guy and what he can get into or whose foot he'll get under or what he might jump off of. When you are ready just keep a look out. However, if a bigger breed feels more comfy for you, then go for it! :) |
Hi everyone I am back. She was supposed to get around 5-6 pounds...but never did. I have some good news though...tomorrow I have a guy meeting me at work with dachshund puppies...we will see how it goes if I feel a connection. They are piebalds, he sent me photos they look really cute. If I end up getting one I will post again tomorrow with photos. But the weird thing is...he is the son of the breeder that I got Maddie from, and he is very angry at his father, but they haven;t talked in a while. I was telling him Maddie's story and how I told a lady at work I was not buying from this guy because he had the same name I thought it was the same guy but she said no, so come to find out its his son, but he is very nice and understanding. Let's cross our fingers that me and one of these little girls connect tomorrow! Night guys. |
Hi Im so sorry for the loss of your little one. RIP sweet baby. Please be careful with getting another one from the same breeders family. ask if he gives a HEALTH AND GENETIC WARRANTY .and make sure its had its shots. |
I am so sorry to hear of the loss of your Maddie... I know it is very heart breaking to have a sick baby. I went through it with my Miniture schnauzer. Was agony for me. I am glad that my Nicky is the picture of health, and I don't ever want to live through it like I did before UGH. Good luck with the new puppy!! |
i'm glad your thinking about getting another baby. please be careful tho if this guy is from the same family. he could just be putting up a front. make sure the dachshund puppy comes with a health guarantee. Dachshunds can have many back problems and require surgery. i'm not sure if some of the back issues are genetic. a lot are just from jumping and falling. Please be careful and good luck! |
