Maximus yelps when he is picked up Hi this is my first post here. Me and my wife have a 1.5 year old teacup yorkie named Maximus and about a week ago I picked him up and he yelped. I picked him up from behind his front legs. I've checked all his legs and paws and havent seen anything wrong. He started to limp a little bit today when we went to the park. He doesnt yelp everytime we pick him up though, only some times. Do we need to take him to the vet? Also him and our other mix dog got into the trash last week and ate some small chicken bones. Neither one had blood in stool or bloating but I dont know if that could cause his pain. Please help. Thank you |
I think you should take him to the vet for a complete exam, because it could be anything. The fact that he yelps, even every once in a while, means there could be something wrong. |
Sounds like possible Luxating Patella. He should see a vet. |
I'd take him to the Vets asap. In July Baron started yelping when I picked him up behind his front legs. I thought he hurt his leg running around with the 2 other dogs. Turns out he has Pancreatitis....Totally shocked me. He had normal stools and was eating well @ the time he was diagnosed. Since that we've been through the wringer, But, I am happy to report that he is doing so much better now. He runs around and jumps over all the gates in the house just like he did before. Please let us know what your Vet says.... |
Thank you. we will get an apointment asap. he has also been reluctant to jump up on the bed and couch the last few days. does this have anything to do with his other problem? |
Just a thought... luxating patella? I experienced the exact same thing with my dog, Moose. He yelped when we picked him up, only occasionally, and was scooting/limping his leg on and off. It turned out to be luxating patella in both back legs! He would also sometimes yelp out of nowhere while he was playing. After a couple weeks of this we took him to the vet and he was immediately diagnosed...worth a check-up at the vet because the longer luxating patella goes on the worse it gets! Hope this helps! |
Hi, For the last week or so our Wicked would cry when we try to pick him up. He's eating/drinking/walking normal and playful most of the time. We notice that he is a little more careful with his posture. Was afraid that he might have a broken bone somewhere so we took him to the vet yesterday. She picked him up a few times and he didn't cry. She examined his body for anything broken and abnormal and said that he was physically in tact. Could it just be a bruised rib and if so, how long would it talk to heal? Has anyone ever experienced this with your yorkie? |
