Took Jojo to the ER Vet Last night around 9 pm Jojo was just laying around. He's usually curled up next to someone on their bed or couch- never on the floor. He seemed to be heavy breathing. I ended up putting him in bed with me and we fell asleep. It was Midnight when we heard him gasping for air- I immediately got dressed and drove him to the Emergency Vet Clinic. I was there till 2:45 am. They did some x-rays, blood work and tests. They're thinking it might pneumonia, the Dr said maybe he threw up and some went into his lungs. The Dr kept him overnight with oxygen. We called this morning to see how he's doing and they have him off the respirator, I just feel so bad for him. I'm sorry, but could everyone keep him in their thoughts and prayer for a speedy recovery. Thank you :animal-pa |

:aimeeyorkSoooo glad to read the end post... will keep you in our thoughts...:animal-pa |
Great to hear the good news! Just want to let you know: Keep a good eye on him ... he should steadily improve. If in the next 48-72 hours he looks worse, or like he's not improving, get him back to the vets. Sometimes the antibiotic may need to be changed. Pneumonia is very serious and the next few days are critical. Mine was put on the wrong AB and his fever shot up to over 105.4. No fault of the vet, they prescribe ABs to handle the most prevalent bugs out there at any given time for any specific area. It was a stong AB, just not the correct one to handle what my little guy had. As soon as his ABs were changed, he began improving immediately. If you are unsure, call your vet right away, don't wait or put it off and see how he's doing later. Still keep a close watch on his breathing, and be sure he has a warm spot to sleep, no drafts or floor. If his bed is normally on the floor, try elevating it a bit with a 3-5 inch high cardboard box (to provide some insulation). Good luck with him ... sending prayers for a speedy recovery ... |
