OMG Worms My mom said she found worms in Emmet's poop. How could this have happened and what can I do? Do I have to go to the vet and get a pesticide or is there a natural treatment for worms? I'e heard that sour kraut can treat worms... but I don't know if that is safe. Please help. :( I'm so upset. |
Take a deep breath, your pup will be ok. You need to look down the listings and you will find numerous threads about what to do when your baby has worms. |
My Coco had worms. At first I was so upset and mad at the breeder thinking she did something wrong, but I was ignorant. They get worms from swallowing fleas!! I went to the vet and they gave me a medication. |
I guess Emmett must have swallowed a flea or something then... but I use frontline on him and haven't seen any fleas for months now. :( I feel like a bad mom. I'll call the vet in the morning. |
I just found a worm myself on one of Emmett's pee pads. It is long and white. I am taking the worm to the vet in the morning. Is this a tape worm? |
I also heard that they get worms from eating fleas, but my vet said no. Also, are you really supposed to deworm once a month??? Uni's only been wormed when she was a pup at the breeder! |

Peanut gets his Bordetella every 6 months bc he goes everywhere and usually I will get his deworm then as well.. BC some of the worms they get, is from other dogs poop even sniffin it, or licking up stagnat water... Its just a caution I think, All the other vax's he gets every year |
Zeus had a tapeworm back in May. No fleas were found on him. Our vet told us since he was eating bugs that he likely ate an infected bug. He was catching the crickets in the backyard and eating them. So gross! Take your dog to the vet and they will give you a medication. I wouldn't wait Zeus lost two pounds from it. |
Dogs can get tapeworms from ingesting fleas. They are flat and segmented. Sometimes look like rice grains (when dried up) in the dog's sleeping area or on the fur near the butt. If you give heartworm meds monthly, some do provide some degree of parasite protection (usually not against tapeworms), depending on the product (should be listed on the box). Take a stool sample to the vet with you. If it's collected many hours before the appt, you can store it in the refrigerator (not the freezer) till time to go. |
