Lump by Eye I'm sure the answer is no, but I'll ask anyway. Has anyone's dog ever had a lump right next to (just about touching) but not on their eye? I just found one on Ellie. I almost want to say it looks pink/reddish from a couple directions, but mostly just light/skin colored. It is a bit smaller than a mosquito bite. I would say it is a bug bite, but I really don't think so because of where it is. She did get hit in the head with a (latex) ball yesterday and licked her nose for a bit, but I'm sure that isn't the first time her ball beat her up. lol. Anyway, the pics aren't coming out well, so I can't post any. Very confused. |
Crystal, Buddy has had three little bumps, much like you explained recently. One on the back of his head, one on the right side of his neck and one on his back. Pink in color also. I had the vet check them out last May and he squeezed the one on his neck. It came back fine. A cyst he said. So I squeezed the one on his head, cleared it and it went away. Also the one on his back is gone now too. Much like a pimple to me. Who knows what causes these. I always check for more but no more as yet. |
1 Attachment(s) Does it look like this or completely different.... |
Well, at least she isn't the only one. :) Yes, it looks sorta like that. After I posted this I decided it looks more red than I explained. Now I think it looks less red than I explained. It's kinda small and would never show up on a pic that well. It looks like a sking tag, but I can't get it off like I did her last one (with my nails). It is more of a bump. I think it's a bit dark and am just having trouble even describing the thing. |
is it on her eye lid or on her skin around her eye? is it like a stye on the lid touching the eye? those are usually harmless. |

It went away after a week. |

It isn't touching the eyelid. It looks like it is right on the corner of her eye, but when you pull on the skin, it moves away a bit and it probably really just less than 1/4 centimeter away. I have to check it again this morning. It doesn't look very concerning, but I get worked up with any lumps at all. |
I wonder if it's a stye, how is it this morning? |

I can't get it in a pic, so I can't show the vet. I wonder if it is a sty, but it isn't on or underneath the lid. I can't even explain it and that is what is irritating me about the whole thing. |
sounds like a basal cell tumor which are usually benign - how old is your baby? Causes of Solid-Appearing Lumps & Bumps on the Skin of Dogs |
if it looks like the basal then i would have it checked out as while rare in some cases it can be cancerous as my friends yorkie has it and she had it tested and it is cancer - do not mean to scare you but it is something to check into |
