Yorkie having heart surgery - prayers requested :littleang The Florida Yorkie Rescue just got in an emergency case; a 9 week old puppy suffering from P.D.A. (patent ductus arteriosis). Her heart was beating so hard, you could actually see it thumping out of her tiny little chest and the sound coming from her (swishing and beating) was remarkable. We are not sure why it took the "breeder" 9 weeks to determine that something was amiss but she did not notice any abnormalities until her Vet checked the puppy. When we finally got her we noticed it right away. Without heart surgery this little 2.6 lb. girl we named Baby Bitzi will surely die as per our Vet. She is having Heart Surgery today and all who read this are requested to say a prayer for her. She is in pretty bad shape right now. If the surgery is successful, her enlarged heart will return to normal size in about a month and she will be able to live a long and happy life. Thanks everyone...:lovewings Kit www.floridayorkierescue.com :yorkiesar |
Prayers, prayers, and more prayers being sent your way for the little Florida rescue. |

Baby Bitzi in surgery now. Baby Bitzi is in surgery right now. She is a very sick girl. Barring any unforseen problems the Vet is optimistic. No, the breeder is not heping with any of the costs. She tried to find someone who would do the surgery once the dog was diagnosed. But she wanted to find a Vet who would do the surgery for free! Oh yeah, like that is going to happen any time soon. She was unsuccessful and she wasted a week "looking into it" while this little puppy's heart continued to beat just as hard as it could beat to keep her alive. The sweet thing didn't even have any energy to lift her head, much less play with her litter mates. So the "breeder" (her first litter... thought it would be fun to let her male and female have puppies...so I use the term "breeder" loosely here) didn't want to pay for the surgey so she surrendered the dog into our rescue. We knew what we were getting into when we took her but we could not say no. We had everything lined up for the Vet and the surgery within 24 hours and with this type of situation, every hour counts. But yes it is costing us a fortune... money we don't have but we'll figure it out some how... all we want from this posting is prayers... Thanks. What a great group of yorkie lovers you all are! Kit :thumbs up |

My first thought! I can't believe it took 9wks for this puppy to get help and then from a rescue. Shame on that breeder. Name should be made public so no one will buy a puppy from them. Prayer's of course are coming for this little one. How sad to think this puppy would die if not taken to a rescue. I do hope and pray this little one will make it and have the life it so deserves. For the breeder, your not a breeder, your just a money hungary puppy miller or BYB. It's so obvious who you are. |
Oh poor Baby. I really hope this surgery works. Such a sweetheart. :hands: :hands: :hands: :hands: |
Baby bitzi's surgery successful Baby Bitzi's surgery has been completed. The Vet is satisfied with how it went. The heart has now been repaired. The next 24 hours is the most critical. She is in now in isolation at the hospital where she will be monitored closely over the next few days. Her recuperation should take about a month. Hopefully she will heal well and suffer no set backs. As for the breeder, (O.K. yes.. back yard breeder does apply in this situation)... she really had no idea that the puppy was sick. After all, she has had no experience. She is not a member on this Yorkie Talk site and is not someone any of you would know... I am pretty certain of that. I would rather not mention what town she lives in, not really necessary. She could be any BYB in any town across America.... there are plenty of them... so let's leave it at that. The important thing is the Bitzi is alive, heart has been repaired and with your continued prayers she will make a speedy little recovery! Thanks everyone! Kit www.floridayorkierescue.com :luvu: |

PDA is a very common congenital defect. Thankfully, it can be successfully repaired. We had one a little over a year ago that did very well! |
Bless her sweet heart. What a little fighter she is. May Bitzi continue to recooperate and have a speedy recovery and a wonderful, long and funfilled life. As far as the BYB goes, I'll give her credit for turning her into rescue. |
I'm so glad that she came through it alright. Let's hope that she continues the good fight for the next 24 hours - 1 month. |
What a little fighter. So proud of her. And you guys in the rescue group. You make doggie world a better place :) |
