Congestion/Sneezing/Drainage I have a one year old yorkie who is very congested and everytime she coughs/ sneezes she has drainage come out of her nose. I have a vet appt. Tomorrow morning but I wanted to see if anyone else has had this problem?!? Molly seems very tired and is laying around alot. Any help is appreciated! Thanks |
Wow, poor baby. What a shame they can't see her today. :( Make sure she's eating and drinking well today to help keep her strength up. Please let us know what her doctor says. |
You should take her temperature ... they will get lethargic with a high fever, actually, if she were mine, i would get to to an ER vet ASAP. Cold symptoms can turn into pneumonia quickly in young and old dogs and can be fatal. Post updates after you go to the vet, please. |
Please get her to a vet asap. Very tired and laying around are not goods signs. The sooner she is put on antibiotics the faster she will recover. I almost lost my dog to similar symptoms (I'm a retired Vet Tech) earlier this year. So much mucus he had trouble breathing. Thank God I caught it when I walked past him. I was letting him rest. Actually he was dying. Temp was 104.5 and breathing had slowed and almost stopped. He recovered, I'll fill you in later. Take yours to the vet. Please. |
Sorry, didn't check the date. Hope all is well... update would be nice! |
Marybeth, How is Molly ? I just read this post today and was wondering how Molly was doing ? Is there a cross post somewhere I missed? Hope this will get an update. Thoughts and prayers for Molly, hope all is well by now. |
Thank you for your help and concerns! Good Morning everyone! Thank you so much for all of your advice and concerns for Molly. I was finally able to get her into the vet and was somewhat surprised with our findings. 1.) Just as I had suspected earlier in the month, Molly was having an allergic reaction to my Febreeze Plug-In's! I have one in our living room, kitchen and Hallway. The doctor gave her an antibiotic shot, a b-12 shot and I was told to give her a little bit of childrens benedryl. As soon as I got home I took out all of our plug ins and she is doing much better! It took her about 1-2 days to rid of congestion but as i said she is doing much better :) 2.) I also found out that Molly was experiencing a "false pregnancy." Molly just came out of her heat cycle about 3 weeks ago. Since then she has been very hormonal/emotional and acting very different. Our vet mentioned that every once in a while a dogs body will automatically "assume" it is pregnant and it's hormones will react. He also mentioned that since her nipples are already enlarged she may experience lactation.!!! Also, if you are wondering...she is not pregnant! All in all, i am very glad i was able to take her to the vet and learn that everything is going to be ok! With the combination of a "false pregnancy" and her allergic reaction...i definitely had an adventurous week last week :) |
Great news! So good to hear all is well. My little girl just came out of a false pregnancy. Waiting every day for pups to pop out! I kept giving her tummy rubs to see if I could feel any bodies moving around in there. And eating like a horse! She gained 2.5 pounds! After day 70 I figured we were safe! Now she's just fat! |
That is great news! |
