Our furbaby scared us to death! So i am working at home i was just finishing up cooking dinner waiting for my DH to walk through the door any second when my Yorkie Lestat runs from the couch where he was playing and runs straight to his crate, which he usually only does if he did something bad so i checked the couch and there were no accidents. Then he starts turning around real fast in his crate and starts heaving he made straight for the door and i let him out where he quickly threw up once he was outside but like a few minutes later that's when things got scary. He just collapsed like he had no energy, he just laid down on his side and even though he was awake he would not move when i called him and at the same time my DH walks through the door and again Lestat does not move a muscle which was really odd since he is always so excited when daddy comes home. He just became so lethargic and weak. I picked him put him down he would try to stay standing up but could not hold his own weight and quickly laid down again. My hubby and I took him straight to the vet that was only about 10 minutes away, by the time we got there maybe 20 minutes have elapsed since he threw up and by the time we got there he seemed to be getting a little better yet still not as energized as he usually is. The vet looked him and did blood work and said it was most likely anaphylactic shock due to an allergic reaction to something (we have no idea what) so she prescribed benedryl by the time we got home an hour elapsed and he seemed to be back to his old self, the vet did call later to tell us that the phosphorous in his blood was high, any ideas? |
Thankfully it sounds like your little dude is okay. It must have scared the poop out of you. Here is a website that explains blood work that might be helpful. A typical blood chemistry panel usually includes |
I know ours are constantly chewing on things. Maybe he chewed on a houseplant or something. I was surprised to find out that even plain ole' house ivy was toxic to them. I got rid of all my houseplants, even the ones on the patio. Just a thought! He could have gotten into anything. These little boogers are not still a minute. Hope he's okay and doing better. That would have scared me to death too. |
Just checking in to see how your baby is doing, hope all is well:) |
