Yorkie Seems Paranoid I have a seven month old yorkie and he seems extremely paranoid. Yesterday I took him to the vet because he was shaking his had and digging at it. The Dr. cleaned out his ear, put in some cleaning and ear ointment. I did it again this morning as well (as prescribed). However he now keeps looking over his left shoulder like something is behind him. He jumped up on the dishwasher, tried hiding in the cupboards, tries to get on my lap, etc. He also will not eat. I am kind of getting nervous and feel bad for the little guy. Does anyone have any words of wisdom? |
Does he have an ear infection or mites? If something is going on with his ears, I can see where that would throw him off. Maybe that's what's going on..... |
The Dr. said he had a slight infection in his left ear yesterday and that is how we got the medicine. I am just worried that something really bad is wrong. He is not eating either, which is most likely a direct result of him being paranoid (that's my guess). He did not start doing this until he had the stuff put into his ear though... |
Maybe the feel of the ear drops is freaking him out. Hopefully he will stop soon. |
Ear Infection Ear Infections can do that ! try and hand feed him , maybe some boil chicken. Give him a few days with the meds. Hope he feels better soon. bark@ulater !!!! manina, miley:aimeeyork, max:aimeeyork |
This might be a dumb question - but should I keep giving him his meds despite how he is acting? |
It has not gotten any better over night. He keeps looking over his left shoulder and sniffing around crazily. He is running crazy looking to hide in small places, he even tried jumping in the shower with me this morning. Any help at all would be GREATLY appreciate!! It all happened after he went to see the vet and the doctor cleaned out his ear with solution and Animax ointment. |
Maybe he has some kind of ringing in his ears...was he always paranoid? |
No not at all. He is an extremely playful pup, very outgoing. When he looks over his shoulder he sniffs a lot too, which leads me to believe that something maybe causing deafness or something? Ringing sounds like a strong possibility too. It is just very unlike his personality. |
Call the vet , and explain to them what is happing , u should take him in , in case the med's r too strong, and now he has ringing in the ear, poor thing . I would go nuts if my ear hurt. bark@ulater!!!!!!! manina, miley:aimeeyork, max:aimeeyork, sasha:aimeeyo rk |
I took him to the vet today. That is interesting about the ringing ears. Is there a way to stop it? I feel so bad for the little guy. I also thought that it maybe was the smell (because he keeps sniffing over his shoulder)? The medicine is Animax, so I am not sure if there are various strengths. |
I just got this ear power for my furbabies , And all were upset after I use it on them it's R-7 Ear power, it help removes hair from the ear canal. It should help keep the ears dry and reduce odor. Bark@ulater!!!! manina, miley:aimeeyork, max:aimeeyork, sasha:aimeeyo rk |
I would call the vet and let them know what is going on. Perhaps its the liquid in the ears and he can hear it sloshing around. Make sure he is eating something! |
