Fine During Day,Throws up at Night? My 6 month old puppy has a couple health problems but has been doing better until the past couple of nights. She is fine during the day playing and running around, but then after I pick her up from my mothers after work after 7pm she starts gagging, throwing her head back then finally throws up twice but then still gags for a while longer. When my husband picked her up on Sunday night she threw up twice as he was picking her up and he went to sit her back down to clean it up and she went stiff, eyes got huge, and she fell. This scared me to death. Her tummy has also been really tight lately. Hopefully I will be able to get in to see the vet on Saturday. If anyone else has had this odd problem please write me it will be greatly appreciated! |
I am no vet, but the timing and symptoms make it sound like seizures to me. |
I had this problem with humphrey when he was around the same age. it lasted for over 5 days, took him to the vet at least once every day, they did bloodwork, poo work everything... didnt find anything. He got better on his own and it coincided with him losing his baby teeth, so I attributed the whole ordeal to teething... It wouldnt hurt to get her checked by a vet though. Good luck |
Is she eating much durring the day? And is she eating her regular food while she is with your mom? If Maddie eats another dogs food, even a little bit, it can make her tummy upset. They also can get low blood sugar if the go too long between meals, this can cause them to throw up, become lethargic, unresponsive, it can also cause siezures, coma, or death. Yorkies are prone to hypoglycemia (low blood sugar) especailly if they are on the smaller side, or dealing with other health issues. She should be eating small frequent meals or be free fed if possible. If you think that it might be low blood sugar I would pick up some nutrical and make sure she is eating more often. I hope that you find out what is going on with her soon. And that she starts feeling better.:) |
I'm gonna use my logic...it only happens when you pick her up from your moms house? I'd check if she was eating anything from there that you don't have at home. Wood, carpet( yorkies are very good at ripping it off :p), ummm maybe a trashcan? Idk. Louis has eaten a bit of my carpet and thrown up at night..the next mornings he's fine...jumping up and down and running around :). I'd take her to the vet though, just in case. |
