I agree~gradually!!! One thing that was recommended to me that worked really well with Tootsie is to introduce the new food gradually over about a 7 day period. Start with adding only about 1/4 new food to her existing diet. And the same the next day, then about half and half for 2 days...And so on....Their digestive systems are very sensitive, as we have found out the hard way with Tootsie.:kiss2wm:

I was just saying that to my family. I am trying to relate this to my allergies, of which there are both environmental and food. It seemed the steroids would only work for about a week and then she would start itching again. I myself am allergic benedryl and I use Zrytec and have always liked it. I will talk to my vet about how much to give her. I am only giving her .25 mgs of predisone twice a day for a couple of days and then 1x a day for a couple of days and then every other day. I prefer the pills over the injection because it is a lower dose.

I don't think the benedryl worked at all for Miracle, as I did not see much of a difference.

I bathed her and washed her paws real well last night in her hypoallergice shampoo making sure to dilute it first. I started her on Natural balance LID and she was hestiant at first but then goobled it up.

I really hope all of this works.

i prefer prednisolone over prednisone as it is easier on the liver so ask your vet about temarilp vs prednisone as temarilp had prednisolone and tavist which is an antihistamine

ok, so I should do the Tavist over the Zrytec?

no if you are going to do any steroids do temaril p as you stated you were giving steroids

I would try zyrtec first before doing steroids though

oh, ok. Thank you so much. You have been such a great help. What is the soonest you think I should/could see improvement in Miracle if this is indeed a food allergy.

it takes 12 weeks to really know but you might see a little improvement before that

Is this normal, I see 85% improvement already. I do still have her on the steroids but added the Zrytec and changed the food. I did not get your post until later the other night so I did giver her JUST the natural balance LID.

She was itching a little in the middle of the night but very little and she did not run and start scratching her nose uncontrollably after she ate.

yep it can be quick if food so that is good news but old food will not be completely out of system for 12 weeks

Hi, I think you'r baby may be suffering from grass allergies.Maybe some cortisone would help.

chester has enviromental allergies, I use salmon oil it helps, it is an anti inflammatory I use it on his wet food, apple cider vinegar mixed with water can help, you can look it up. I also use dryer sheets and soap with no perfumes or dyes in it as well. THey say to bathe them frequently to get the allergens off the skin, I use a hypoallergenic shampoo on chester he has very sensitive skin. I would also invent in a air cleaner that might be a possibility, they can be very itchy doggies. My vet told me if the temaril p helps the ithces it is not food related, it has prednisone and benadryl in it and the prednisone will make them urinate more.

temaril p is prednisolone not prednisone which prednisolone is easier on the liver and tavist not benedryl and tavist is an antihistamine

do not start with fish oil and acv yet you need to do baby steps one thing at a time and some dogs are allergic to fish oil so first start with food and nothing else for 12 weeks and only introduce one thing at a time for a 2 week period or you will be totally confused and not know what did and didn't work and yes bathing weekly for environmental allergies is important but first we need to rule out food

I use detergent and dryer sheets that have nothing in them due to my allgergies, so I hae that covered. I did try the benedryl and it did not work for Miracle but he zrytec does. I am tapering down on the predisone we only have her on it for 1 week.
