Stomach Issues Hi, My nine month old yorkie has been having stomach problems since I got him a month and half ago. We have been to the vet several times and have had blood tests and stool samples analysed. These tested showed nothing wrong. The vet then tried to give him medicine to kill any parasites and de wormed him again but his stool is still very soft and he gets diharrea a lot. I am not sure what else to do but I can hear his stomach gurgling. He seems to be eating and drinking fine and does have energy to play so I am am very confused and worried. Any ideas? Thanks, |

What meds and dietary changes have been tried and exactly what bloodwork was done? |
Stomach Issues Hi, He had blood work done for pacreatitis and he was put on Pancur (sp?) and Metronidazole I believe. |
Have you tried prescription food, Tylosin, etc.? IT has been going on for way too long, so now the vitamin Bs probably should be checked and a TLI could be done. |
Ask if his Folate levels are high (they can tell from the blood work). If so, this would mean an overgrowth of bacteria in the small intestines. I would also ask the Vet to put him on a low daily dose of Tylan Powder. Those tummy noises and the diarrhea sound like it could be a form of IBD. |

Sometimes certain foods don't work, especially if there is a food intolerane involved. This just happened with my dog and the two rx foods just made it worse. She has to have homecooked. As Nicole said, the folate needs to be checked to see if there is a small intestinal bacterial overgrowth. This is one of the vitamin Bs checked and it can be done with a TLI. A TLI will rule out exocrine pancreatic insufficiency. |

I talked to the vet and he said he checked and treated for colitis and did an TLI. He thinks it has to be food allergies or a sensitive stomach in which case i am at a loss about the kinds of toys to get him as he eats and chews everything. |
This was TJ when I first got him, and for the next year of his life. Those noises sounded like a monster in his belly. He would have this globby poop, mucus poop, diarrhea and eventually vomit too. His blood work came back normal, as well as all the fecal tests. His folate level were very high though. We tried a single source protein diet (duck/potato) and nothing else, although I think they made duck/potato treats too. And Metro, but he was still having the episodes. Then we moved onto Tylan Powder every day, and this was finally what stopped them (after about 6 to 8 months later though) :( If you can find my past posts, TJs episodes are what brought me to find YT ;) |

what are you feeding as i would google inflammatory foods and stay away from them such as white potato - stick to more grain based diet for an ibd dog so rice vs potato. I use probiotics also which will help -- this concoction always works -- I take two dds plus capsules from vitamin shopp which i use daily in my allergy dog -- it is in the fridge section -- then i mix with a 1/4 tsp of organic pumpkin from whole foods and give 30 min before food in am and that tends to firm the poop up and kill the bad bacteria in the digestive tract |
