I really need your help. Dino is sick :( Sorry to come but this is very urgent. Yesterday my baby Dino (almost 2 years old) threw up 4 times. He hasn't wanted to eat any of his food and he doesn't want to drink water. We had to syringe water into his mouth to get him to drink some because we are afraid he might dehydrate. He threw up again this morning and has had a little diarrhea. It is Sunday and the vet is not open so if he stays the same I will take him first thing in the morning. He is not lethargic or anything he seems fine, a little less active than normal but he is still playing and getting in trouble. What should I do? I am so worried. |
Hi...sorry to hear Dino is not feeling good :( I know then when Harley has those days I boil some chicken and rice and that helps him! Hope he feels better soon! |
we boiled him some chicken which is his absolute favorite and he didn't even want to touch it. :( My friend told me to give him pedialite but he doesn't want to drink it so we have been trying to use a dropper and put it in his mouth. |

He may have pancreatitis. Yorkies are prone to it. Pancreatitis (Inflammation) in Dogs I would definitely take him to the vet first thing in the morning as I am sure at this point he is dehydrated at the very least. If he gets lethargic before your vet opens, though, I would find an ER vet. If it is pancreatitis, it can be very serious. |
pinch the skin on neck if it bounces back immediately then not dehydrated If it stays up he is dehydrated and take him in - not eating does not concern me as they can go for 5-7 days without food but you need to make sure he is drinking that is key so if not drinking that is more concerning --How much does he weigh? |

I did the neck test and it bounced back quickly so I hope that means he is not dehydrated. He weights 8lbs, he is not overweight he is just a bit of a teapot yorkie. Thank you so much. I will take him to the vet first thing in the morning, if he starts getting lethargic I will take him to the E.R. but until now he seems pretty normal, we just took him for a ride in the car and he was putting his head out the window and right now he was playing with his toys. |
What color are his gums? Are they tacky or moist? You can also check capillary refill time if you feel like it. |
Hope he feels better soon!! |

His gums are red and pretty moist. He just went to his bowl and drank some pedialite so it is some progress :). I think I might take him to the vet tomorrow just to be sure. |
