Vomiting after whelping. Eclapmsia? Baylee had 5 puppies last night and tonight she is vomiting green. Can I give her pepto bismal? Or is this serious? What are the signs of eclampsia? |
Did she eat some placentas? Sounds like when mine do. What is her temp? |
Yes she at all of the placentas. I have not taken her temp Is there anything I can do for her? Can she have pepto bismal? |
her temp is 102.4 |
Ok, well my "guess" is it is from the placentas, but of course I'm not a vet, but my vet always said watch for a temp of 103 or higher and call. if she doesnt have any other symtoms I wouldn't think it is Eclapmsia. Here is some info: Initial Symptoms # Initial eclampsia symptoms can include restlessness, nervousness, excitement and signs of stress such as unexplained panting. These symptoms may dissipate into lethargy. The dog begins walking with a stiff gait and can have muscle tremors. Her muscles may feel rigid. She eventually becomes weak enough to have problems walking. The dog may wobble and seem disoriented, and might lose all interest in the puppies. Progressing Symptoms # If eclampsia is not treated by this point, symptoms become more severe. The dog may develop a fever and start shivering, and she might breathe rapidly. Seizures can occur, which may lead to a coma. Eclampsia left untreated can cause permanent damage to the lungs, kidneys and liver, and often is fatal. |
No she doesn't have any of those symptoms. She seems to be feeling better now. Just worried about dehydration. She's been burping so maybe just an upset stomach. |
