EYE problems Hi, I am new here... I have a 10 month old yorkie, she is just shy of 4lbs.. Her name is Roxy...She seems to be having a problem with her eye, like maybe something is in it.. I have looked, Its like she can't keep it open for long and it just does not seem right.. Any one have this issue, or any advice? (I am taking her into, but not till late today.. Thanks.. Collette & Roxy |
So glad you're taking her in :). Anytime a dog can't hold open an eye, it's important to go to the vet asap. Could have something stuck in it, could be corneal abrasion, or could be an infection (ususally, they still hold open eyes when it's a simple infection). Let us know how it goes! :) |
She may have "conjunctivitis" as it is common in dogs. Or she may have a "boo-boo" and that can get infected too. Most likely your vet will check out for any foreign object, than prescribe you a topical antibiotic ointment. She will better soon. We are crossing our finger there will be no foreign object or debris inside . XOXO |
Yorkies also are known to have eye lashes that grow downward, into the eye. Glad your taking Roxy to the vet! |
Thanks ya all.. She has a a cornieal ulcer, a little sore on her eye.. She is doing much better already.. She has some drops... A big relief, it wasn't too major... Thanks for all the great words... Collette & Roxy... |
