Last night I noticed that Phoebe has a bump.. On the lower side of her mouth. So if she were a human I would say it was on her lower lip. When I first saw it, I thought it was a tick because it looks like you could pick it off. I took a closer look and it's def not a tick. It almost looks like a canker sore. It's a white color. So of course, I'm freaked out. I googled and it looks like it may be "Canine Viral Papilloma". It makes sense since she goes to daycare and the pictures that I saw of if are similar. I called the vet and of course, they said to bring her in or keep an eye on it for a week or so. I'm the first to jump the gun and bring her to the vet and waste 60.00 on a visit when I should have just waited a few days. I am still worried. It does not seem to bother her. Also, it seems like it just popped up. Does anyone have any experience with this? Could it be something else more serious? If it is in fact viral papilloma I read it can take 1 to 5 months to go away. Can I get any advice from anyone that has experienced this with their dog? |
Sorry I can't help, never heard of this before. I would go to the vet instead of causing myself unneeded stress. Better safe than sorry. If it is some sort of virus I would think antibiotics would be called for to keep it from possibly spreading. Finger's crossed it's nothing but I would go to the vet. |
no but i have a dog with skin issues and know that dermatologist are much more well versed in skin issues so i recommend for something like this a dermatologist even if a little more expensive as may save you money in the long run |
