Triss is sick. :( She hasn't been able to keep anything down now for 24 hours, so the vet will see her tomorrow. I called this morning because she kept vomiting, and they told me to watch her today. The vomit is just a clear light yellow fluid with food in it. Well, I gave her some small spoonfuls of prescription diet canned for sensitive stomach (what the vet gave me to try). She would vomit it up in a few minutes every time. She has not had a bowel movement now for 24 hours, but she also hasn't eaten. She has drank a little water, and only peed twice today. I'm worried. I hope everything is ok. :( She has been super clingy to me today, and just looks so sad and tired. |
So sorry to hear about Triss. I'll keep you both in my thoughts and prayers! Have you tried to syringe water or food? Or food on a teaspoon? Sometimes they go for that. This is what I used to do when my Buddy was sick. Just noticed were somewhat neighbors! |

what happened within the 24 hrs prior to this in detail ? any fatty foods or treats? Do you think your pup has any obstruction - toy piece or something? It is normal not to have poop if not eating |
Thanks for the info. I didnt offer her any more food after about 9 last night. 24 hours prior to this happening she did not have any treats, and as far as I know, she didn't eat any foreign objects. I just got back from the vet and he thinks she has a urinary tract infection. He gave me antibiotics and something for the nausea. One thing I did notice is that she was not urinating as much. She peed only once for sure yesterday, and once this morning. She seemed to be very anxious about going outside. She didnt even want to go for her morning walk today. The vet said if it doesn't get better, then he will do a blood test to check her kidneys. |
I hope she gets to feeling better. |
I hope the antibiotics do the trick and that she will be feeling better soon. Vivian |
You are in our prayers, Gucci and I just went through him being ill and I know how worried you are. Hope she feels better soon! and Dwerten is right, if she's vomiting I'd withhold food for 24 hours and 12 minimum. Then offer a bland diet so it doesn't irritate her tummy even more, just in case it's not a UTI. You wouldn't want to aggrivate her condition any more than it needs to be. |
what antibiotic did they give-clavamox? Did they give cerenia as anti-vomitting? Make sure to give antibiotic mid meal as to not upset the tummy further - soften kibble to make it easier to digest while going through this Did they do a urine catch to determine bladder infection? Personally i always do free catch as do not like the needle in bladder approach so if you take her back to have rechecked - take in urine sample by using eye dropper off back of wee wee pad. You can get free sterile eye dropper and bottle from any pharmacy for free - i always have these on hand in case and stool sample bottles from the vet |

Good news though, she hasn't vomited in over 16 hours, and she held down some food today. |
