Halo's goin potty all over the place...HELP Ok so my lil Halo puppykins is about 7 months now.:aimeeyork For the last few weeks (goin on 3) he's been having random accidents. He is potty trained and he knows to go outside but as of late he's been "holding it" until he just can't hold it anymore. Pretty much means whenever and wherever he's reached his holding capacity he goes potty right then and there. I mean thank goodness it's only pee, but what in the world is goin on? He does understand hat it's bad because he runs for his cage afterward and sits there with the "uh-ohh" look. I took him to the Vet and they said it sounds like a behavioral problem. Wanted to run some tests that were in the $200 range. I opt-ed to wait and see if things improve but he peed on the floor in the house 3x this weekend all the while having access to the outdoors where he has been pottying. When we do make him go out there he just looks at us like this is new to him. Nothin has changed with his schedule and we pretty much leave the door open for him to go out at his own will. I mean it's not everyday he's having accidents, but more than he should be having at this point in my opinion. Has anyone experienced this behavior? Is this health related? Is he at the marking his territory stage?? Any help at this point will be highly appreciated before I go and pay all this money for tests. Thanks in advance people:animal-pa |
Is he peeing a lot more then usually and just can't make it outside before he explodes? is he drinking more too? if that's the case then the vet needs to do a test on his urine to see if he has a UTI. |

If he hasn't been neutered by seven months, most likely he is marking if it's small amounts of urine. |

No he hasn't been neutered. That may be part of the problem, but it seems like there's way too much urine to be just marking his territory. |
i'm not really sure on this, but i think i read somewhere that puppies go through a phase during teething where it seems like all their training goes out the window?? can someone back me up on that though? |

Puppies go through a "teenage stage" the second half of their first year when they challenge you, don't listen and can regress in housebreaking. If Halo is voiding large amounts of urine like he can't hold it, it is probably something medical. Lady did this when she became diabetic. |
ok guys Here's an update on my lil Halo Poor baby had fleas...he was under attack Since this is my first puppy i had no idea of the signs really. I just gave him his flea preventative as directed every 30 days. They were biting him around his wee wee and he didn't want to go. Now that we've gotten rid of them he's back to his regularly scheduled programming lol Apparently it was a small case of them but it explained a lot. Took him to the vet and got tests done and he's healthy as ever. Thanks guys for all your support. :D |
