why antibiotics does she have an infection? you still need to have on a limited ingredient diet even if environmental in an allergy dog

Yes, she has scratched some of the little bumps open!!! He said on a scale of 1-10 he would rate her as a 1?? So, we went to petco today and got her new food as well..Hope this works~she's miserable!!! Although, with such an exciting day she is fast asleep:animal-pa

ok good the zyrtec is what alot of dogs on my allergy say works well so fingers crossed as this will help with environmental but not food

so you got the natural balance venison and sweet potato correct ?

yep it works 85% in dogs as they cannot fit in vile all the allergens from test so they go with the top ones so why it does not work in the 15% -- sometimes i regret not trying this as i tried everything else but a holistic vet said not to do it as it can make them worse :( A natural way to do it is get local raw honey from farmer's market as that can increase immunity in your immediate area where the pollens are as the bees get the local pollens and make honey out of it and you put a dab on finger and slowly increase over time to build resistence to the allergents in your immediate area - some people did it on allergy group and it worked well for them and their dogs. The humans put the honey in tea

Now another way to rule out food allergies is a diet of white fish and brown rice. It's what I have my girl on right now. She's always been an itichy, since she was a pup and she's 5 now. But, with her last and final litter it accelerated.....

do you do vitamins? or was this just for elimination diet as we did pinto beans and potato as our elimination diet as dd had had too many proteins prior

also rice is a grain and most allergy dogs do best not on a grain diet

Interesting!!! Ironically, I take Zyrtec for my allergies as I have had them since I've been young. I moved to a rural area and since then have developed allergic reactions that I never had before ie rashes etc.!!! I just wonder if this isn't what is going on with Tootsie as well...We spend alot of time outside!!

That's why he had her on brown rice.....We discussed lamb and rice and he said it was overrated and he doesn't have much luck with duck.....He is a Canine Nutritionist and found that he's had better luck with the brown rice and white fish.

Nope this is just to rule out food allergies. We've begun to add Merrick to her diet and so far she's doing great.

yeah you may want to keep her indoors for 30 days and see if she does better just as a test

Hmmmm

I was just noticing that you both live in California. I used to live in Cali and I had a little dog with severe allergies we went through the foods and shots all they did was keep him from going totally crazy. I noticed early on in his life the baths would make things much worse. He was so bad his hair had almost all fallen out by the time he was 7 yrs, his skin looked like old shoe leather. Well about a week after we moved to Idaho I gave him a bath and noticed he was not itchy. Then he had a few more baths and one day while bathing him I noticed it felt like he had little stickers in his skin. I went for the flashlight to get a better look and to my amassment after all the bald years and leathery skin his hair had started growing back. Within 6 mo he had a full beautiful hair coat again. Turns out he was allergic to the water, not the food or the shampoos. So maybe you need to take those babies on a vacation to a cleaner place and see what happens. You might need a water purification system or move to Idaho where we have cleaner water Ha Ha. But seriously it could be the water.

you know that is a very good possibility as the derm said to try distilled water when bathing and i have been lazy but now that you say this i am going to use distilled water with her next bath. California is horrible for allergies -- even the vet said when people move here within 2 mos their clients are coming in with their dogs with horrible allergies :( and yes we have thought of moving for dee dee lol - but i do know alot of others on my allergy group that live in other areas so who knows - idaho here we come lol

I am going to give it a shot to see if it helps though

I would tend to agree with you, but I moved here from Texas and my Go-Go had these issues there.

The problem is the drinking water also. And the water you water the lawn with , you really can't escape it without a water purification system. And Cali is bad for allergies I had them there too and since I have been her my allergies are gone. I do daycare in my home as I did in Cali and 4 yrs ago one of my daycare families moved from there to here. The little girl has severe asthma, well had asthma. Since moving here she is off all asthma meds, it's as if she never had it. When I took care of her in Cali the poor thing couldn't go outside to play with the other kids, she had to take her breathing machine every where with her and she was hospitalized a min of 4 times a year. We first noticed how well she was doing when her and brother came to stay the summer she used her inhaler twice the whole time she was here. Then when they moved here mom took her off all meds to see what would happen, that was 4 yrs ago and she's been med free every since. So mabe moving out of Cali isn't such a joke.
