Limping I woke up this morning and my 2yo female was limping. Her back right paw seems to bother her. She holds it close to her. I checked it out and I can't see anything physically wrong. She was okay last nite b4 bed and she didn't leave the room during the nite. How could this happen? I want to take her to the vet. But I really can't afford the emergency visit so I guess I'm asking is this something that will pass? Or should I take her to emergency? |
It could be a problem with her knee, not her paw. Luxating patellas are very common in Yorkies. Luxating Patella: A Knee Problem in Dogs Only your vet will be able to tell if it is something serious or not. |
My baby had Luxating patella in her back right knee. We just did surgery on this knee and plan on doing the left depending on if it stays the same or not. I thought the same thing! she kept picking it up but it didn't seem like she was in pain. I took her to the Dr and after x-ray's it turned out to be Luxating Patella. You might want to start saving for surgery if money is tight. Over all i hope things work out! Please feel free to ask any questions if you have any! |
Don't panic regarding surgery. She could have jumped off the bed during the night and you didn't hear her. There's a chance she could have a soft tissue injury to her leg and yes she has to see the vet to be checked. If this is the case she will need pain meds. I went threw this last month with Buddy. It's very important to have it checked out. Good luck. I hope it's nothing more serious but anytime they show injury a vet check is needed. |
