Bruised bladder. To make a long horrible story short.. my husband fell on the back of my five pound yorkie. Eli (the yorkie) cried out loud and struggled as my husband lingered on Eli's back which to me seemed like a lifetime.. might have been three seconds. I freaked out! Eli ran to the back room and hid under the bed.. I finally got him to come to me and he pee'd right beside me. I noticed it was dark almost red. I started crying and I grabbed my dog, my husband, and my purse and went straight to the animal ER. The vet told me his bladder was not erupted and it was a good sign that Eli can walk, run, pee, etc.. They said his bladder was bruised and just see if he still pees blood over the next two days. He pee'd when we left the vet and it didn't seem to have any blood. He slept like a baby that night.. so I'm assuming he feels bad? Does Eli hurt bad since his bladder is bruised. Any information will be helpful.. my stomach is in a knot, and this is yorkie is my baby.. besides my husband.. he is my LIFE. (we have no kids) Thanks. |
You did the right thing going straight to the ER....that sounds awful and I hope your little Eli will be ok ! You're very lucky it wasn't worse.....:( Accidents happen but it's how people handle them that's important... |

OP small dogs are always in danger of being stepped on so most of us have learned the Yorkie shuffle as we have learned little paws can get in the way. Your poor husband .. I am sure he feels rotten about this.. |
Accident's happen all the time and it does not make things easier when these little ones are always under foot. Your husband, I am sure, feels terrible about this. You did the right thing by getting Ellie to the ER right away. Will keep her in my thoughts and prayer's that she will continue in good health. Maybe a little bell on her harness will help. I have read where other's have done this so they know exactally where their little ones are. Hugs, |
Prayers that your little Eli will recover just fine. Your hubby may take longer to not feel so bad! I keep a bell on Toby and Lola's harnesses at all times. Some might find it annoying, but it not only helps me know what they're doing, but where they are at. Good luck to you all. |
