First Litter Plz Help!!!!! Ok we have been taking her temp twice a day and it has been 100.2 but now it dropped to 99.1 her nipples are lacting milk big time and she ate this evening and she threw it right back up in front of the couch. She has been sniffing all over the place when shes not sleeping next to me. Staying close to daddy but when dad left she was right up in my face litterally.... I know these are all signs but this is her first litter and ours and we would like to make it as unnerving as possible for her. Any advice on how long you may think or just a rough time frame so we can keep an even closer eye on her. Bitting nails not sure.. Vet tells me to relax and everything will go fine but this is my baby and you never know what could happen..... |
Sounds like she is in the beginning stages of labor. You may want to post this in the breeder section. I will try to go and get some advice for you. |
Do you have a whelping box and all of your supplies ready? She shouldn't be allowed to have run of the house right now. You don't want her crawling in somewhere that you can't get to her to help. |
Don't let her go potty without being on a leash with you and a flashlight right behind her. Maiden bitches often think they need to go potty when it is labor. Watch for panting, straining, pacing, digging, etc. Let her do what she feels like doing (sleeping, drinking, etc) and keep an eye on her. If you are afraid you will fall asleep set your alarm to get up and check on her. She may not alert you to her birthing process (which may be on your bed lol). Once she starts straining look at the clock. You want to keep track of how long she has been straining. If it goes too long you will need a vet. |

Yeah my girl wants my hands on her at all times. Makes it hard to rest, write something down, fetch a towel, answer the phone, etc lol. It sounds to me like she is in early labor. Grab some caffeine :D and keep us posted! |
