UPDATE:

I joined the liver shunt yahoo group. I've found much information and help there.

Her bile acid test results were 139 pre eating and 134 post.

I have an appt next week at U of TN. To locate the shunt and operate (if operable) its about a 13 hour drive from here but we're making the trip.

Ill be communicating extensively on the yahoo group and will let u all know here at YT how the appt/surgery goes.

Her workup is on Thurs and surgery Friday.

Good luck with your appointment. It's been about 5 months since I had Lola at UT and she is doing great. If they do have to do the surgery, be prepared for the incision...it's pretty ugly and no one warned me that it would go down their whole little belly. It fades really, really fast - Lola's was about gone in just a couple of weeks. She was just a little sore for a couple of days and didn't ever seem to be in any pain at all. I did take a newborn "onesie" to put her in so she would not have to wear the collar after surgery - it worked perfect and she never botherd her stitches. They all dissolved on their own. Taking Lola to UT was the best thing we could have ever done for her! I'll be sending thoughts and prayers your way Thursday and Friday.

We drove up to Knoxville yesterday. it was about 13 hours or so. but we're finally here! Bindi had her scintography (sp) done today. they located her shunt. she has her surgery tomorrow morning. i am beyond worried and hope that it is a success.

just thought i'd up date everyone here :) !!!

btw, they also pretty much ripped my current vet a new one. they said that they didnt do her test tests properly and all the UTI issues we had before probably werent even UTIs and that she didnt need to be put on the c/d diet that they put her on initally before the l/d. which absolutely infuriates me further. I already knew i was switching vets but the degree of incompetency i did not know. it's clear that the practice is just trying to make $$$ (no wonder she referred me to her husband for the surgery, tho i said no thanks). I literally spent about $600-$700 just in the past couple months. not to mention the $300 for her annual they charged me.

/end rant. sorry i went off a bit there.

anyhow, yep surgery bright and early tomorrow. i miss her so much. she has to stay there the night. and tomorrow night as well. i just wonder what she is thinking over there. all alone and away from me :(

I will be praying that Bindi has a successful surgery.

Ahhh....I am so relieved that they found the shunt and she is in the BEST hands for surgery :)
