Occasional Limping Jack is 2 years old and I've noticed recently that he'll pick up his right hind leg when he gets really excited. For example we'll be playing and he'll run really fast and all of a sudden limp for a sec and then is fine in 5 sec. He's done this about 5 times in about two weeks and has never done it prior. I've read about Luxating Patella on here and now I’m starting to worry. He does jump on and off our bed a lot. I've been thinking of getting him steps so that he can prance on our bed a bit more smoothly. What were some of the symptoms your dogs showed with “Luxating Patella”? Does it require surgery? Ah I’m so worried after reading some of these posts! |
I don't have experience with LP but it sounds like it would be worth mentioning at your next vet visit. |
Get advise from vet My girlfriend dog was doing the same thing, and ended up with Leg Perethes..Get a professional oppinion ...sooner rather than later. Good Luck!!! |
Toby started doing this with no warning. He did it once or twice, then seemed fine. Two weeks ago he came in from outdoors and wouldn't walk at first, then limped for a good while. We took him to an orthopedist and he does have luxating patella, grade 2. We're restricting activity for 2 weeks and hope that will help. They don't recommend surgery at this point, which is FINE with me! Hope your little one is just fine. |
My Chloe will be 12 weeks tomorrow. She was at the vet yesterday for one of her shots. I have noticed that she holds up her left back leg once in a while. I didn't think anything of it until the vet said that she has the same thing your little one has. We will keep an eye on it until she is 6 months or so and see if it will need surgery or not. Good luck. |
