Flea help!!! I think my dog has fleas!! This morning I noticed brownsih colored creepy crawlers on her (about 4 to be exact)...she hasn't been scratching at all so this was weird to me. I washed her and saw two come off and then I took two off myslef I am totally clueless to this, what should I do? I was suppose to get her Frontline on last Wednesday since she was out but it totally slipped my mind now this...do I buy the Frontline and apply or should I do something? any input would greatly help:) |

If its been over a month since you applied the last dose of Frontline, go ahead and apply it again. If yo don't take control of the fleas you may soon have an infestation on your hands. |

 nothing else is required? |

You can give her a bath with diluted dawn dish soap to kill the fleas, then put the frontline on her |
|
You have to wait 3 days after a bath to put the Frontline on. |

My Mom has been using peppermint oil mixed with water (15 drops oil to 1 cup of water)...and it's been working!! No fleas, ticks, or biting bugs!! put it in a spray bottle...shake it up good...don't spray directly on the dog....spray on a towel or rag then wipe him/her down with it...all over...especially the underside. you can apply this everyday if need be. And....NO CHEMICALS!! My Mom got this info from a holistic vet. |

Fleas I worked at a shelter, we used Dawn Dish Soap to wash rescue animals and my daughter used it as an additive to the shampoo if they came up with an animal who has flea infestation. |

I just read in a magazine to boil lemons, let cool and pour over dog, I havent tried it but fleas are supposed to not like lemons |

Excuse me. That is what my vet said and he is a doctor. |

You are not supposed to wash the dog riight after you apply the frontline I found this info to support this: How long before and after bathing my pet should I apply FRONTLINE PLUS or FRONTLINE SPRAY? Always ensure your pet is completely dry before applying FRONTLINE products. It is recommended you do not bath or shampoo your dog for at least 48 hours after you have applied FRONTLINE PLUS or FRONTLINE SPRAY. I got this right from the Frontline Site. |

The "no bathing before or after rule" is old and outdate. The products have been updated. |

Just look at the logic in the situation. Applying medicine to a clean, dry dog is a good thing. Washing the medicine off is obviously a bad thing. Pretty basic. |

Cheap Solution I forgot to check the date on this thread. You may not still need help, but I figured maybe someone would happen across this website and have the same issue. Wash your dog in dish liquid. It sounds like a cheap way out, but that's the beautiful of it. We bought our Sylis from a pet store and we had him around other dogs for the entire weekend. When we brought him home we noticed he had some fleas. We tried a flea bath and flea spray. Neither of which worked. A co-worker told us to try dish liquid or apple cider vinegar. We have yet to try the vinegar, but we did try the dish liquid. It killed the fleas wonderfully. We had to brush them out, but I'd much rather brush them out than have them in my house. I hope this helps. :) |
