Little Dog threw up 3 times today... I am a little concerned. My Little Dog has thrown up 3 times today. It has been bright yellow and a little foamy. She has had a soft stool and normal pee patterns. She's not wanting to eat now but at noon she took a bite of my PB&J and loved it. She has felt very warm to the touch all day. Almost like a kid with a fever. But she does sleep on a fleece blanket, so I may be paranoid... She normally does a happy dance when I get home and tonight she didn't. She just walked to the couch and layed down. I haven't changed her food or given her anything out of the ordinary lately. I wonder if she could have conned one of my boys out of a chocolate debbie cake. Would chocolate poisoning look like this? |
If you are concerned about her temperature you can take it at home, very easy , you need to take it anal. If she is trowing up not a good idea to offer food right away... specially PBJ ... Is she drinking at all? You can give her water and pedialite just to keep her hydrated. Pepcide Ac is very safe to give and stops vomiting, one pill of 10 mg , but if it is something serious will not work, but definitely worthy trying once and see if she feels better. You can PM if you need i can give you my home number . Good luck ! |
PB&J was an accident. She seems to just want to sleep right now. I may call you in the morning if she isn't feeling better then! Thank you so much! |
My Buddy used to do this quite often. I always called it puppy tummy, cause I could never figure it out. Read this, hope it helps Dogs and Chocolate Toxicity |
How big is your dog? If she is super-small, you may need to worry about hypoglycemia if she is unable to keep her food down. Rather than withholding food and risking that, you may want to offer her a bland mixture and see if it interests her. You can mix cooked ground chicken (blot off any excess fat) and plain white rice in a 1:2 ratio. Offer her tiny bits of the mixture throughout the day-- a little meatball-sized portion often works well-- and give her time in between servings. If you lift up the side of her mouth and touch her gums, they should be pink and moist. If they feel tacky to the touch, she may be becoming dehydrated. Pedialyte is a great suggestion for preventing that. If she is very small and begins showing signs of low blood sugar or dehydration, please don't wait to take her to a vet. Unfortunately smaller dogs can go downhill pretty quickly when they get sick. |
Thank you all for help! She had a very runny stool over night. She also had another bout of vomiting. I think we are vet bound. Ours is out until tomorrow. I think chicken and rice and water and a lot of cuddle time is in the works for today.! |
Sorry she is still not feeling well. Watch her close for signs of dehydration and hypoglycemia. If she is eating and drinking she should be ok until you can get her to the vet. |

You need to take her temperature. Here's a great how to: How to Take Your Dog?s Temperature Toy breed dogs can dehydrate quickly, often in as little as 24 hours. Dehydration throws their electrolytes off and is very serious as they can go into cardiac arrest. Syringe feed her Pedialite to keep her hydrated. If she continues to vomit, I'd try to find an ER vet today. I know it's a hassle and they are expensive, but waiting another day could mean hospitalization on an IV. |
She'll drink when I offer water. I have rice cooking and see is wanting it bad! Rice is her favorite treat. She seems to have quit vomiting. Her body isn't as warm as it was yesterday. I think she'll getting better. My vet wants to see her tomorrow AM. She is about 15 years old so I'd rather not take her to a stranger. |

That sounds encouraging. My Lady is almost 14 so I know how special these old gals are. :big_hug: |
New Developments... Okay so now there has been a change... She gets the urge to go out...Her stool is about pea sized now and very soft if anything at all. She came in and left a spot of blood on my shirt. Upon inspection, her vulva is bloody. So now I wonder if she's in heat. This is really stressful. She doesn't look sick but she looks lethargic. She's alert but has no appetite. My husband says she did this about 18 months ago with her heat cycle. Is he right? I hope so! |
There has been turn for the worse...We are going to the ER for Dogs right now. Wish me luck! |

Oh, dear. I will pray for your sweet old girl. Please update us when you can. |
Took her to the ER. The Dr. said her uterus ruptured and infected her blood stream. There was nothing we could have done differently to save her. She passed on about 12:05AM CDT on June 20, 2009. I've lost my best friend! She will be missed! |
I am so sorry for your loss. |
You did as much and all you knew hoe to do! You gave her the best years of her life ! Our prayers and our support goes to you... Also encouragement to leave the "yorkie door to your heart" open... when it is the right time... you will fall in love all over again, and that will be a way of honor this little one ! Blessings ! Isaiah 49:13 Shout for joy, O heavens; rejoice, O earth; burst into song, O mountains! For the LORD comforts his people and will have compassion on his afflicted ones. XOXO |
I am so sorry for your loss:( |
Plz help me! Puppy throwing up constantly! My yorkie baby is 5 months old. For the past two months she continually throws up until it is foamy white/clear and she cries the entire time. I have taken her to the vet numerous times and they have me some stuff called quick start to give her for low sugar. She still threw that up and got worse. So I took her to a diff vet, once again she had to get ivs and all she told me to do is give her karo syrup. It helped for a couple weeks but she is doing it again, she is breaking my heart and the vet's in my town are not helping! Does anyone know anything that can help her from throwing up please? The vet said she would be fine to get spayed on the 27th, that was last month we set up the appointment, I think that they are crazy!!! She prob wont hold through the surgery! SO I am cancelling it. She only weighs 1 lb 7 oz. I cannot get her to gain any weight! Any tips or suggestions will be greatly appreciated!!! If you want you can send me a email to hdivers6373@yahoo.com Thank you again.. |

You will get there... it takes time. But you are doing great ... looking for support. besides she was an older girl... sooner or later she would want to go... she is in peace and it was fast . That is a good thing. Xoxo |

so sorry :( but she will always be in your heart. Have you thought about rescuing another baby possibly a senior as there are so many in shelters now due to high foreclosures and this may ease the pain a little. It will never replace your baby or the love of your baby but will ease the pain. |
Im so sorry for your loss, chester and I are sending you yorkie hugs |
I'm so sorry. I was afraid of this when you first started describing the symptoms... She certainly did have a long life though, didn't she? Sounds like she was a blessing! |
