Flea Allergies My Millie was scratching like crazy and when I checked her she had bright red hives all over her body. I had found a tick and she was getting Revolution. I gave her Children's Claritin - that's all I had. When I took her to the vet, the hives had gone - because of the medication and the vet said he could find nothing wrong. He checked for fleas and said there were no fleas on her and there was no evidence of fleas. However, the hives returned. I checked the internet and found out that if there are fleas you can find them by submerging the dog in water. So I filled the bath tub with water and carefully submerged her making sure to keep her head dry. Two flea ran to the top of her head to avoid being drowned and I caught them. It turns out that you can't always tell if there are fleas, and I found out that Millie is allergic to their bites. I never knew. |

could have got the hives from revolution. My girl has had hives 2xs and it takes like 48-72hrs to completely get rid and they come back every 8hrs or so. best way to kill fleas is washing in dawn original formula and fleas and eggs die instantly then rinse real good and use a conditioner. I think it is more the revolution than the flea bites triggering hives. How long did she get hives after med as hives happen within in one to two hrs of coming in contact |
Revolution She got the Revolution three weeks ago, so it could not have caused the hives. Since I removed the fleas the hive have gone away. I'll keep checking though. I'm going to buy the dawn today. Thanks |

Don't know Honestly, I don't know. She woke up scratching at 5am in the morning. It could have been something from the night before, but I don't know. She was sleeping in my bed and work me up with the scratching. When I looked at her chest it was covered in hives. I've just been trying everything. She's okay now, but like you suggested I'll keep checking. Thanks |
I checked your web site. You sell amazing stuff. I will be ordering from your site in the near future. |
Tatum has a "flea allergy" also. We fight fleas constantly in our hot area. My dogs are now on Sentinel and Comfortis because of how bad they are around here. Tatum is 5 years old now but it wasn't until about a year ago that this happened. She was itching so much and had red hives all over her. Took her into the vet the next day (gave Benadryl that night to get her through it) and he found one little bitty flea on her. He told us that one little flea bite will set her off with the itching. That's when we added the Comfortis to her monthly regimen and she's been great since then. She does still get bit occasionally though and will itch a bit but he gave us some pills to give her for a couple days and the itch will go away. Good luck with yours! |
