Max inhaled Chlorine Max inhaled chlorine this morning and ran into the house. He has been very skittish ever since. Of course we called the vet and was instructed to call Animal Poison Control. Which we did and they did not feel that we should bring him to the veterinary hospital. We gave milk as instructed to coat his throat in case it was sore. He trembles when we take him out back where the pool is and I am worried that he is always going to act this way. Someone please tell me he'll be fine.... |
He's probably just scared from the experience! I'm sure once the "shock" wears off he'll be ok. Take a breathe and try to relax (I know that's hard) because he can pick up on your emotions. The best thing to do IMO. Is to slowly start to re-introduce the outside area to him, once he's had time to relax and calm down himself. Maybe take him for potty breaks in front for now and slowly walk him around back? Hope this helps. :) Good luck! |
Thanks for your reply. I feel better already. He is coming around a bit slowly though. I wanna stay home from work just to be sure he is okay. I love my lil guy. Thanks again. Diana |
How's he doing today? I've stayed home from work before when Bailey has acted "off". They become our child... :) |
Max I stayed home with Max yesterday just to make sure he was fine. He did throw up in the middle of night which definitely made me stay with him to watch him during the day. He is actually doing better. He sneezes a bit so I spoke to his vet's office to let them know. They didn't think it was a matter for concern. Thanks again for your comments and thoughts. Glad to hear Max is doing ok. |
Thank you. We certainly had a scare there for a moment. |
I'm sorry I'm late on this, but wanted to share my experience. When my 18 year old son was in his early teens. He was going to put some chlorine tablets in the skimmer in our pool. When he opened the container he opened it right in front of him and under his nose. He accidently took a big whiff and it started bothering him right away. I called the emergency poison control and they said to get him into a steamy room. Since my bathroom has my washer and dryer in it also...I put him in my bathroom, turned on the hot water in the tub, sink and washer (with lid open) and kept the door shut up tight. I'm sorry I don't remember how long it took, but it wasn't very long when he started feeling 100% better. Not sure if you do the same with dogs or other animals, but it's always worth a try. |
Thanks for the tip. I will keep it for next time. Although I certainly hope that this doesn't happen again. I guess we need to be a little more careful with these guys. |
