Legg-Perthes Well, my 7 month old yorkie was diagnosed with legg-perthes disease in his back right leg. I had surgery scheduled for today but canceled it due to the fact that my puppy has started using his leg agin, where before was not bearing any weight at all. I didn't see the point in rushing the surgery if he seems to be doing better. I know this may need to be done eventually, but just wanna wait until he gets a little bigger, he is only 2 lbs. Another question I have is why didn't any of the vets discuss other treatments with me such as therapy or medication to see if we could avoid surgery. Any opinions? I would greatly appreciate it! |
I do not have experience with legg-perthes disease first hand, but I believe that from what I have read, that there really is no options other than the surgery :( and while he may be using it right now, I "think" you will start to notice him more and more often not using it, and yes this is painful. 2 lbs is tiny, and I see your hesitation :( |
