Help! Bee Sting! Genghis just got stung by a bee on his leg. What do I do now? I found the stinger and got it out of his leg, but he's not standing on it and when I try to comb it he shrieks. He is now on my lap and doesn't want to walk. Do you think he's allergic? Thanks in advanced. |
Put a little ice on the spot and you can give benadryl if he seems allergic. If he is breathing ok he should be fine. |

He seems to be breathing ok. He is just sleeping on my lap. I've been reading other threads on bee stings, but I'm still not sure how much benadryl to give him. The foot isn't swelling. I'm going to check to see if there is another stinger. |
Place some meat tenderizer into a bowl with a small amount of water and mix it into a paste. Apply this to neutralize the venom which will help relieve pain and swelling. Keep it on for at least 30 minutes. You may have to wrap gauze or cloth around the area to prevent licking. Afterwords, you can simply rinse it off. You can also use some cornstarch if you don't have meat tenderizer and do the same add water to make a paste and that will help with itching. |
Do you have any on hand? I give mine 12.5 mg or half a table. He's a puppy right you could try to half the half if he's really tiny? How much does he weight. Put ice on it. Bee strings hurt. :( |
I used something called "Sting Stop" as a dressing and put gauze around it. It's supposed to get out the poison. When I look closer at the wound it seems bigger than the stinger, like part of his flesh was bitten off. it's dark with red surrounding it. He is now sleeping cocaroach style, but I can see a stream of tears running from his eye. The leg is still not poofy. |

you can also Daub regular French’s yellow mustard on wasps or bee stings. Doing this will pull out poisons and toxins, and that will speed along healing. just putting things out there.:D |
Snake bite kit It's probably too late for this now, but good info for all. If you have a snake bite kit , take the suction bulb and use it to suck the venom out. My aunt is a high school nurse and they use that for kids that are allergic to bee stings and it works great. I keep one in the house and the van in my pet emergency kit. You can buy just the bulb without the kit at Wal-Mart. |
