Bailey got vaccinations today and I am worried, please read I tried calling the vet but keep getting the machine, I wanted to ask if it was normal for my puppy to hurt where he was vaccinated, Does anyone know? he yelped when I tried to pick him up:( He seems very sleepy too, but still has an apetite. Is it normal for him to be groggy? Thanks in advance. |
That is all very normal no need to worry, their shot spot will be tender just mind that area, if it does however swell after a couple days you may wanna take him in to see if he had a reaction.. but other than that its totally normal |
Mine yelped also when I picked them up and they slept some too. I think this is normal. Hope your baby gets to feeling better.:) |
Thank you for the answers! I feel much better now! :) |
It is normal for them to be sore just like a human baby, they are either crabby, sore, or sleepy too! I always give mine a small piece of baby aspirin a couple of hours after the shot. Hope this helps!!!! What a god mom you are to worry...... It will be okay:D |
also cash after his shot formed a large lump where the shot was done, I called the vet and they said that was normal also, it did freak me out tho. |
That's all perfectly normal, your vet should have warned you that your dog would be sore and perhaps sleepy. Mine always do. He'll be back to normal before you know it:) |
I give my baby a dose of baby asprin and a warm rice bag to snuggle up to after a shot. |
Yes, it's normal, that happened to Zoe as well. |
Ella's 2nd shots (the first ones with me) didnt bother her much at all. Her third ones tho were horrible. I couldnt even pick her up for like 3 days... It was awful :( But she just got her 4th ones and it wasnt near as bad, she was just kinda sore. I think the vet did a crappy job that one time.....or something lol. Anyway what I am trying to say is that its normal! lol!!! |
I have heard of yorkies being sore after their shots, especially because they are so small. Sometimes you can purchase a pain reliever from the vet to ease the pain of the shot(s). |
Mine get sleepy too! Roxie and Ryder both get very sleepy and sore after their shots. My vet has me rub the injection spot to relieve any tension, they have never yelped with me picking them up but I would just try to massage him and just let him enjoy his sleepy day. |
Yea its normal for them to be groggy just as long as he is eating and drinking. Most yorkies don't have that much meat on them and the needle doesn't have much to go into and they can bruise pretty bad. you might feel a little bump in a few days too where they put the needle in. It will go away he is fine just be gental when you pick him up and where you pet him avoid the spot. |
seems like everyone else has said what I would! hehe It's totally normal. I have one who screams like an overdramatic child where she got her shots and I have one who acts like nothng ever happened right after. haha They're all different! I bet it's like is getting a shot. It'll bruise and hurt for a few days and then be fine. |
