My new baby yorkie Just recieved a lil cutie pie, 2month old male yorkie yesterday. He seemed fine last night, ate a lil wet food and drank some water. He woke up today a little sickly, he's puked 4x just a mouthful each time. I haven't given him any of his vitamins or meds, I'm afraid he'll puke them up. He's sleeping now, does he need to go to the vet! I'm just nervous, I want to be sure he's going to be ok! thanks, maggieO |
The poor little guy is probably just adjusting to the change. I would take him to the vet anyway for your own peace of mind but I think that is probably what it is. Don't worry about the vitimins for a day or two. Maybe boil up some white rice and a little chicken. Feed him slowly and a little at a time. He'll be fine. Welcome to YT!!! Just toooo much excitement for the baby!!! Good Luck let us know how he's doing. |
I am sorry your new baby is not feeling well. Two months old is still pretty young to be away from momma. I would make sure he is getting a little Nutri-cal so his blood sugar does not get low. If you don't have nutri-cal then a little karo syrup and water would be good. Are you feeding him the same food the breeder sent home with him? What kind of food was he on? Just keep a close eye on his gums. It is important that he does not become hypoglycemic. Have you scheduled him a wellness exam by your vet yet? I would really recommend he get checked if you just got him. |
The Nutri-Cal is a good idea. You could also give him some plain yogurt..(not the flavored kind). It's good for their digestive tract. He's probably just a little stressed at getting used to his new surroundings. But if it continues..you definitely should take a trip to the vet just to be sure. Keep us posted on how he's doing!:aimeeyork |
Hi, and Welcome to YT!! Congrats on your new babydog! Oh what fun and sooo cute!!! Personally, I always have my Vet do an exam on a new pet initially, mainly because I know nothing of their normal behavior other than the really obvious stuff such as vomiting and diahrrea that are not normal for any pet. The main thing is that neither is good for such a young little pup, and can turn critical really fast. So, to be on the safe side, let your Vet have a look at him. They will do a good job and give you an overall health assessment which gives you a baseline to work with, and you go from there. Like if he has a fever he may be sick. If not, then a tummy upset from excitement. And good info from everybody else who replied so far... |
thank you, still worried. Named him Mookie, he was fine all afternoon and evening, playing and eating, now is a lil pukey again, going to take him to the Vet in the AM. going to give him his vitamins.. but i think he'll just puke it up 8( |
