I think my dog swallowed something sharp about 25 hours ago... So I think my dog ate something sharp last night and I gave him the "Cotton Ball" ( Dog ate bone or sharp object. Cottonball remedy works! ) remedy... I am not 100% sure if he did though... It's been about 25 hours He passed out a lot of cotton today and he's been playing around normally and is acting normal with normal stool. Do you think he's in the safe zone yet? Yes I know they will be "TAKE HIM TO THE VET!" responses but let's start with D.I.Y. instead of paying $180 for x-rays for something he might not even have swallowed. How long do things take until it completely passes through? He's swallowed many sharp objects before and passed it out fine but this is the first time I caught him doing it so it is kind of worrying me.. But like I said I am not 100% sure that he swallowed anything at all Thank you :aimeeyork |
Providing it is not lodge somewhere in his digestive tract....it would've passed within 25 hours. If you aren't examining his stools...you'll never know if it passed. Personally the potential internal damage of a sharp object would cause me enough concern I'd glady pay the $$ for an x ray. |

I suppose it depends on what it was he may have swallowed. However, more than likely if it's bad enough to give cotton, it's bad enough to see the vet. I just don't think it's safe to treat in this case without veterinary supervision. |

If you saw him eat somthing sharp then you know he did. Please have him x-rayed. It's cheaper in the long run then waiting for him to start bleeding from his rectom because of damage done to his intestines. Better safe than sorry should be what your thinking. Good luck, |
