Fireworks Deiter doesn't like fire crackers. He won't go outside now with them setting them off. He shakes all the time when you take him out. He sits at the door and just shakes. Does anyone have any ideas on how to relax him. I tell him all the time that we are ok, I pick him up and give him some loving to let him know that we are fine. They are worse tonight ( fire crackers) and I am sure as the week gets closer to July 4th, they will get much worse. I don't know what to do. I hope that someone may have ideas or know how to not shake so bad. He is just so nerves. Thanks for reading this |
we found out on another thread about this idea...it sounds strange but, it is an idea they used it for loud noises from storms like thunder so it may work for the firecracker noises... u put a little t shirt on him they actually make a wrap to put on the dog to stop the fear it is a tight fitting shirt made of fabric...all i know it has helped Oliver with the thunderstorms ..he used to go hide in the washroom and shake ...but not now when we put the t shirt made of cotton sweat suit fleece u could give it a try :) |
this is the title of the thread on it : Storm phobia- surprise remedy |

Thanks I will try it. It took us 15 min to find him tonight to take out to go potty. Poor guy. He just shakes, pants and hides under things out side now, even if they are not shooting them off. Thanks for the tips. I am going to try this tomorrow and see if it works. I will let you know Thanks again. |
I have the same problem with my Yorkie. But Mazie the cocker spaniel will do nothing but bark. By the time this weekend is over, I'm gonna be a basket case. I'll try the shirt idea with Misty but anyone got any ideas as to what I can do to my barker? |
There's sedatives from the vet if things are really bad enough to work your dog into a complete panic... you could also try something more natural and over the counter like Rescue Remedy. |
