Separation Anxiety Hello all, I have had my Rocky for the past three years and they have been 3 amazing years. He's a perfect dog and like a child to me. He is well behaved and has been house trained or house broken, I never know which one it is. The only problem I have with him is that whenever we leave the house he begins to shake uncontrollably and when we return, we notice that he has peed not only on himself but all over the house. I am very concerned, as I do not know how to fix this. I read in an article that he might have separation anxiety that is caused by the dog moving around a lot and he in fact has moved with us about 3 times already. I would like to know if any one else out there has this issue. Is this normal to yorkies and how can I help him with this? Thank you all in advance for your help. Bruna and Rocky:animal-pa |

I havent had that problem but my friend has and she bought a small carrier... and introduced it to her dog and let him sniff it and put a few of his favorite toys in it. And when he got used to it she put a old tee shirt of hers in it and when she leaves the house she puts him in it. She read that they like to be in a small place one where they can basically lay down and sleep....kinda like when the hide under the bed... they feel better and dont have as much anxiety... I hope this helps it helped her alot!! |
Thanks for the suggestions! :) I have heard of the crating idea before but the problem is that he begins to desperately scratch the door and when I arrive home the floor is filled with blood and he has open wounds on his paws. And I read that if I put him in a crate with him doing that kind of scratching, he could really hurt himself. I have an appointment with the vet this week to see what he says, but its worrying me a lot. Lets see what the vet says. |
