Brody has a soft tissue injury to his testicle For the life of me, I have no idea how this could of happened . . .I took him to the vet yesterday because I noticed that one of his testicles was splotchy like broken blood vessels and was slightly larger than his other one. Some background is that Rhianna is on her 2nd heat (another one we are skipping due to her age) so they have been seperated. Brody has a toy which we fondly call "humpy duck" that he has been using a lot. I'm not sure if the excessive humping caused this or what, but I feel extremely neglectful and not very happy I didn't notice it sooner. Humpy duck has now retired . . . The vet at first thought it might be Testicle Torsion, but after the ultrasound(which was incunclusive) they put him on Rimadyl and are having me bring him back later this afternoon for a recheck. They also did a blood panel which came back with normal levels of liver, etc . . . Although the swelling has gone down, his testicle looks bruised still . . . Has this happened to anyone else's little guy? :( |
I've not had this trouble. But I'm sure this thread made our male members wince a little.. ;) Is "humpy duck" hard plastic or a stuffed animal? Poor guy! |
Humpy duck is a stuffed toy duck . . .Brody has had him since he was a pup . .. he loves that poor duck . . .all I can think of is maybe like a friction bruise? I hope the vet has some kind of news for me later after the re-check. . . |
My neutered male Chipper had his Buddy Boy from the day we brought him home. Buddy Boy was my daughter's stuffed scottish terrier that Chipper immediately took a liking too. Before and after Chipper was neutered he would have his way with Buddy Boy (luckily no damage was ever done). We had Chipper for 13 years and when it was time for us to make the hard decision to let Chipper go I brought Buddy Boy with me to the vets. Chipper had his Buddy when he crossed the Rainbow Bridge and I had them creamated together. Their ashes have a very special place in our home. |
We just returned from our follow-up at the vet and he said the swelling has gone down considerably and the bruising would take awhile, but he'll be fine. He said that he had some trauma, whether from excessive duck humping or something else . . . |
