My dear Peanut died of tracheal collapse
 
Hi all

My dearest, sweetest Peanut died 2 days ago at the tender age of 8 years. His trachea gave in, and was gone within 5 hours after taking him to the emergency vet.

If I had only knew about the problem earlier he would still be here. Please never ignore a cough, snore or anything. we thought it was natural or didnt even think that this was a problem.

He is now in Heaven and will see him soon, where he will be waiting for me.

Thank you for the sympathies. he was such a stunning sweet soul, he could smile when he saw us, and had the cutest bark when greating us. He even gave a propper hug when I held him tightly by pressing his head tightly on my arm.

I live in Randburg (Gauteng). Will be posting gorgeous pics of my much much loved Peanut now

:cry: I'm so sorry to hear of your loss. I lost my Scooter last year due to a brain tumor and he had CT so I know what a struggle it is.

I'm so sorry for you and little peanut. I lost my sweet Abbey 3 years ago due to a severly collapsed trachea. She had the problem for about 2 years along with some lung problems and an enlarged heart. I changed vets because when she first developed the problem my vet told me she was not longed for this world and that made me mad. The other vet put her on a medication and that helped somewhat, but no one ever told me about the surgery to put rings in that can help open the trachea. I found out about that at the emergency vet the night we lost her. She was so bad that night the emergency vet told me that she would never make it through surgery. Since being on YT I have learned that this surgery can be very risky and that longterm outcome may not be good. Please don't blame yourself as I'm sure you did everything that could be done for your little peanut. :littleang:rbyorkie:
