Puppy with Parvo I just got a six month old puppy(Queen) and she has Parvo. She has been in the hospital for two days. I take her to Banfield clinic in the morning and I take her to the Urgent Care at night. The cost is killing me, but I can not let her suffer. Everyone things I am a fool. But I love her. If she dies, I don't know. Im searching for hope. |
Parvo isn't necessarily fatal...with treatment many do survive. Sending prayer for your baby. |
If you cought it early her chances are vry good and even if you didn't many still make it. People kill me who say things like you are crazy for spending that money. You can't just let a sweet puppy soul suffer without giving them the care they need and hope for a chance to live. You are definatelydoing the right thing and don't let anyone tell you otherwise. Agree with the previous posts, you are doing what you believe is right. "Bchgirl" and "MyTeddyBear" have offered much encouragement. Between Annie's larnayx tieback surgery at 13 1/2 yrs old, and DJ's biopsies and constant medical costs I spent thousand. If you ask me would I do it again, w/o any hesitation, yes! Keep us posted on Queen's progress. Bob |
How is your baby doing this morning? I agree with the others - you are doing what is right for you and little Queen. I am sending prayers for a quick recovery for her! |
I am so sorry! I don't know anything about Parvo. Hope she will be ok. |
Great news she came home today! I thought she was going to have to stay at the Urgent Care again tonight, but she is eating some and drinking water. She only threw up once. I have to take her back to Banfield in the morning to check her vitals. I do not go to work tommorow so I can be home with her all day to help her recover. The neighbors daughter from down the street came over to see her today. Queen would have loved it. (She is a very loving puppy.) I told her queen was very sick and she looked so sad. It felt good to know she is loved by others. I've been feeding her food with a syringe. She takes water by herself. I guess we are on the road to recovery. Thanks for all the responses. That's why I love this site, I knew you all would understand. |
I just saw your original post. Such good news that Queen is home. I am so happy you had faith and stood by your decision to do all you could for her to recover. She sounds like a strong little girl. Please keep us updated on her progress. :) |
If a dog /puppy has all her shots up to date, can she get parvo? I have another puppy (Diva) and she is up to date on her shots. She shows no signs. Although Queen has had shots, she had not completed the series by the time I received her. I found out that parvo is a big problem in this area. A co-workers puppies both died. They were 8-10 weeks. Another lady was bringing her puppy in because she was showing signs. I had never heard of a dog getting parvo until I moved here. |

I AM SO SORRY TO HEAR this.... Awful experience.... good news is that your baby is recovering , that is great !!!! WE always hear from the vets about how important it is to keep the vaccines up to date and not only puppies but the moms before being bred too. I hope all goes well from now on and you will never be sorry for saving this puppy life !!!! |
