We need help please reply.. our baby suki is 3 months old weighing 3 pounds and a good eater and have a lot of energy. lately i notice her when she sits or lay that she shakes a little like nodding (from the chest to the head) last night she did it and fell on her side and i thought she was playing coz her daddy and her were teasing each other. then tonight it happened again! so i shouted to my husband and he came and it happened again. she is her normal self except for that thing. IM WORRIED WHAT COULD BE WRONG. CAN ANYONE GIVE AN INPUT? we are thinking to take her to vet but any response will be appreciated. |
It could be hypoglycemia, but these symptoms also make me think of Liver Shunt (the vet would need to test bile acids for this). When does this happen in relation to when she eats? |

If I'm reading the symptoms correctly, I'm also wondering about hydrocephalus, among the other things. Please keep us updated on what the Vet says. |
Could she have had a neck or spinal injury ? |

my husband talked to the breeder and they said they never had any history on this one..and said it might be for lack of calcium..its the first time i heard of this and she asked are her ears up..i dont even want to talk to my husband right now i told him specifically what to ask (i dont speak bulgarian yet)..im juz sitting here crying and waiting for our vet appointment.. |
Sounds like she needs a BAT Test. Bile acid test. How old is she and how much does she weigh? |
we went to the vet yesterday and he said it could be mild epilepsy. he said no reason to be too worried since it happens to young puppies and in time she will outgrow it once she build her immune system. he gave us vitamins and some things for her diet. we are in contact with her breeder and she gave us a lot of advice for the vitamins and the her diet. she wanted us to take the test for the liver just to be sure and we agree with her. all in all, right now suki is under observation will she get worse or not. i notice that she get the nods when she gets excited and worked up. we will do the test for her liver and hope for the best. so far she is acting normal. i gave her vitamins and keeps close eye on her. thanks to everyone who posted, i really appreciate the thought. |
My old roommate has a min pin that when he gets too excited and runs around he will shake and fall over, sometimes motionless sometimes moving his legs. He has a heart problem and when his pulse increases it creates a short circute. They couldn't offer a treatment so we would just make sure when he go too excited we would calm him down. I would definately run moretssts because epilepsy is not a common thing for a puppy. |
My concerns would be Liver and Atlantoaxial Instability :( |
Do you think she could be having little seizures? Please read more about seizures simptoms and compare.... i hope it is not but if you are giving honey that would stop the hypoglicemia .... I know nothing about the liver shunt but here there are a lot of people experienced with it that can give you advice. Anyways i would consider the vet visit ASAP... the more you delay usually the more costly it is... Good Luck |
I am very sorry your little puppy is experiencing these symtoms:( My thoughts and prayers are going out to Suki |
we had her tests today, and it came out ok. no problems for the liver, she was low on calcium and now she is having vitamins for it. for the epilepsy, all vets say (three vets) that its hard to find it on the system but they gave us a calming medicine incase she gets worse and we have to calm her down. for the heart, everything seems to be normal coz we have our original vet look into that as well. suki is still under observation if she will get better or worse after 2 weeks we will go back for her check and see. now im still with no sleep and a little worried..only thing that makes me feel good is all three vets say that there is no reason to worry for now just keep an eye on her. thanks for the inputs..i hope i can say more but for now im also waiting what will happen.. |
really pleased to hear that the tests came back ok. Hopefully it will turn out to be something she grows out of as she gets older. sending hugs your way. |
