Worried Hi all! I need some info about my pup, Winston. He just turned one on june 1. I noticed last night that he was drinking a lot of water. So far this morning he is still drinking a lot and he has had a few accidents on the floor. My husband and I have been frantically cleaning house because my in-laws are on their way. We are both nervous about the visit so I think we might also be making him nervous. He also seems hot. He was just laying on my lap taking a nap and he seemed warmer than usual. He was running around earlier so Im not sure if it is from that. He has always seemed to feel warmer than other dogs. My question is do you think I should get him to a vet or do you think I am worrying for nothing. He really isnt acting differently. He has played a lot this morning and is now taking a nap. He has just been drinking more, having a few accidents on the floor and feels warm. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I have never had a little dog before so I worry about him a lot! Thanks and sorry for rambling! |
Are you sure it isn't just from the outside temperature and he's playing more? More heat + more play = more drinking and more peeing. If he seems normal otherwise you just may be worrying more because of your in-laws coming for a visit. |

I dont have a thermometer. The more I think about it I think he may just be nervous. He has MAJOR separation anxiety and he was alone yesterday evening for a few hours. During that time, we had a thunderstorm here. It has been a crazy few days for him. |

Invest in thermometer and KY Jelly. There is a sticky I think the Sick and Injured section that lists some basic things to keep on hand for your first aid kit. |
It really would depend on the temp in your house or if he has been outside a lot lately. If the temp that he is used to has not changed and he is drinking and peeing more, he most definitely needs to see a vet as soon as possible. |

Good Luck Hon, relax, Winston will so captivate your in-laws that they won't notice that you didn't get a few odds and ends done before they arrived. :aimeeyork |

Hope its really nothing to worry about, but, to be on the safe side I would take him to the vet just to be sure. Drinking alot of water is also a sign of diabetes. It would not hurt and make you feel better to know what and if anything is wrong. Hope it nothing. |
