Update on Sabrina (spayed/little tumors) So, I now have the most spoiled 9 year old girl you have ever seen. I made her a little dress to wear over the stitches and it worked. I made it full enough to go over her and then pulled it up tight and put a clippie on it to keep it where she couldn't scratch or mess with the stitches and it worked really well. I am exhausted though - I had to get her to eat before she could have her meds morning and night, and then 3 times a day hydrogen peroxide and ointment on stitches - it really seemed like that's all I did for a week! She got them out Wednesday and all is good. She's still on antibiotic for the infected uterus, just in case we decided to keep her on them another week. She did so well though. The first 2 days a lot of pain, but then she was just good as gold. BUT - I got her crate out so we could go get the stitches out - and she ran and hid! I put the crate up and waited and finally, here she came. So funny. She associates the crate with the DR. now. Used to it meant we were taking a trip! They are so smart it isn't even funny. I was so scared to do this - I just want you to know not to wait like I did. She came through at 9 years old with flying colors. It's never to late. |
I am so happy to hear that Sabrina is back to her old self. And you are so right..get those girls spayed early.. |
I'm so glad that Sabrina id doing well. What a good idea you had about putting a dress over her stiches! |
Thank you for your thoughts. I just hope this helps someone else who is hesitating. |
Bless her heart! I'm glad that she's getting back to normal. It's so hard to have to do things like that but we want what's best for our furbabies. Kisses and Hugs to Sabrina! :p |
that's great news for your little Sabrina - I know you must be so relieved - & what a good mom taking care of her baby :) That sounds like a big responsibility... but we'll do whatever it takes for these guys and it sounds like you did a great job - Chanel and Cheri send their best get well wishes to Sabrina |
I'm so happy Sabrina is doing so well. Part of it is the loving care her mom is giving her... :p |
Thank you, and Sabrina says thank you, too. Now, the problem is the DR said to stop feeding her so much because she's going to gain weight after being spayed. I've only gotten her on Natural Balance for about 5 months - my picky eater - that's the first dog food she's ever eaten. NOW he wants her on a diet. First it was get her to eat, get her to eat, now it's don't. Poor little thing. I can't make her diet when I won't myself! Age should have its priviliges, shouldn't it?? |
