Watery eyes... Hey everyone, I was wondering if you guys can help me out. Leo has been having watery eyes, not only that but his eye boogers are dark brown towards blackish!? And I'm concern if there's something in his eyes or what? I really need help! Don't know what to do or how to help him. Anyone have any idea? |
If you have some natural tears rinse his eyes with it . You can do it several times a day. Do not use visine or anything that says( Gets The Red Out) Just plain old natural tears. It's probably allergies. If it does not seem any better in a day or two see the vet. |

I wash with water and for the remaining stain I use Furfection Kissy Face . |
Natural Tears is completely safe to use on dogs, and you probably don't want to know how they test it to determine it's safety for human use. I can tell you that allergies cause most eye discharge. The eyes become dry and itchy , the eyes then try to compensate by overproducing tears, if you keep those allergens rinsed out the tear production will level out, just like human eyes. If you pay close attention during spring and fall the goo is usually much worse. When the eye becomes dry during these times of the year more damage can be done by the dust and debris scratching across the eye every time they blink. |
I would say that it's probably allergies or there could be a small piece of his fur that's either in his eye or poking at it. Sometimes they're so light colored that it doesn't even look like anything is bothering their eye. I use eye wipes to get the eye boogies out, pretty much daily to keep on top of it. |
Yes the eye wipes work well for removing the goo off of the hair just under the eyes , and it's important to keep the goo cleaned off of the area. It grows bacteria in that area. If you notice it starts to stink after awhile, this means the bacteria is growing. Left untreated the bacteria can spread into the eye and cause an eye infection. |

No, it's formulated specifically for the eyes. You can buy it at most all drug stores, and grocery stores. I buy it at Wall-Mart. There are a few different brands, just make sure it's only natural tears and theres nothing else in it for allergies, or anything for getting the red out, as it (constricts the blood vessels) in the eye. |
I used to live in southern Ca. I know all too well about those Santa Annas, they are horrible for these poor pets, dogs and cats . I have one of each that suffer from allergies and the natural tears greatly helped through the Santa Annas. My Sparky sneezes his head off during allergy season and wendy days, I use the Chlor-Tabs from Wal-Mart, it's chlorpheniramine 4mg tablets. Exactly the same thing you get from the vet only WAY CHEAPER under $3.00 for 100 tabs. Sparky weighs 11 lbs and takes 1/2 tab 2x a day. Ask your vet about the dosage for your dog. If they question weather its the same thing as what they have I can assure it is , my vet is the one who told me about it. And the pills are the same size and color as what your vet has. |

yep i have an allergy dog too and we go to animal dermatology about 20k in vet bills so have my share of specialists for sure in so cal lol |
Also if your pet suffers from allergies , it's body is already not doing what it's supposed to do. That's why it needs some help sometimes. |

Yep here has been our 5 year journey of allergies my dd has hypothyroid, severe atopic dermatitis, mvd and luxating patella - oh what joy |
Try a chamomile tea rinse. After shampooing, rinse well and pour the tea mixture over the whole body let it get into the eyes it's non-toxic, they can drink it for a tummy ache too. It soothes the skin and eyes. Chamomile deactivates the allergens. I use a gallon milk jug, steep 3 tea bags and pour it into the jug, fill the rest of the way with water. Pour it over the dog and Do Not Rinse off. Dry as usual. And I recognize that skin, wait till you see the results after the tea rinse. |
P.S. the good thing about the tea rinse is you don't have to shampoo to use it, you can use it between shampooing as well. I put Sparky in the tub and rinse him well and apply the rinse between shampooings. |
