Blood?!?!?! I'm freaking out!! Nicco just turned 7 months old and this past week, I saw something strange. When he was standing up, I noticed a red spot on the tip of his penis. I thought he was bleeding so I immediately picked him up to examine it better in the light. When I tried to look at it again, there was no blood. I shrugged it off thinking it was just in my head. Today, the same thing happened but the blood was more obvious this time. And again, when I picked him up to examine it in the light, it was GONE! I don't know what's going on!!!! I am going to make an appointment with the vet tomorrow but I wanted to check with you guys first to see if this is a common thing. I don't want to make an appointment if this is something that it normal and I shouldn't be worried. But if it is something that needs attention then I need to know! Please let me know!! |
I believe what you are seeing is your pup's penis. I believe he has an erection, and when you pick him up, it goes down. The red that you are seeing is the tip of his penis  Is your pup neutered? |

Oh my gosh! I hope that's what it is! If it is, that is just too hilarious. LOVE IT |
That is what it sounds like. :) |
I think you are talking about his Penis. Its a red membrane that moves in and out. Or are you seeing drops of blood. No question is a dumb question and we are here to help. |
Lol, omg...I feel so dumb! He is my first dog so I just wanted to make sure something wasn't actually wrong. There is no blood dripping..its just really red on the tip. I've only seen it twice and now that i know what it is, I guess i don't have to overreact and go to the vet. LOL, how embarrassing would that have been ! |
LOL Don't feel dumb! It's good that you're at least paying attention! And asking questions. :) I've never had a male pup, so I didn't know what it was either. At least it's nothing serious! |
