I think Leila has a dislocated leg!! She was running to catch her ball and took a tumble on the carpet. I now think she dislocated her left front leg. I called the vet and they told me to monitor it over the night and to limit her activity. We are going in to morning for her to get it checked out. Does anyone know anything I can do to make her feel better until then? She just wants me to rub her belly and she doesnt want to move much (can't blame her!!) I'm concerned about how much it's going to cost me to get checked( I mean I have to do it, she's my child, but I'm scared I'm going to get a $1,200 bill). Has this happen to anyone before? Any idea what I'm in for? Any sympathy feedback or advice welcomed!!! |
I dont have any advice except to keep her as in-active as possible until you go to the vet. But I hope your baby feels better :) Keeps us updated |
I wouldn't wait until the morning, but that's just me. I would imagine she's in pain. Can you find an ER vet to take her to? |
Right now she is just sleeping next to me and I'm restricting her activity for the night. I did ask my vet if I should take her to the ER. He told me that as long as she is not avoiding walking at all (which she is not, but her leg just doesn't look right) or is whimpering or if the area is twitching or throbbing it should be fine to wait the night. I find him to be honest and upfront and genuinely cares about animals unlike some of our previous Vets. He works at the ER a few days a week so I know it's not about the $$. After I cried for a bout 15 minutes I gained my composure and realized I would do the same for myself for the same reasons so I'm going to wait it out. If anything changes, I'll take her to the ER. Thanks for caring and I'll update you on her when I know more! Melissa |
I hope she feels better in the morning. A lot of times with leg injuries they are fine in a day or two with restricted activity. I have on several occassions run one of mmy dogs in with a limp only for them to act perectly normal once we got to the vets!! Keep us posted please. |
Oh Melissa sorry about your little one, I hope also that is nothing serious:animal-pa |
Well good news! Leila is just fine. With restricted activity, this morning she got up and was walking on it! I brought her to the vet anyway to be safe. He said she was probably a little sore or had a very minor soft tissue injury. Thanks everyone for your kind words and I think we will reconsider the area rug near the door!! Have a good night!
