Bee sting Toby jumped to catch a bee today, caught it in his mouth, and I assume it stung him. He cried and paw'd at his mouth, and the bee came out. That was about 2 hours ago. I rang the vet as soon as it happened, and they said some dogs will react to a sting and some wont, but if they do, it will happen pretty much instantly. They said put baking soda on it. (not easy to get baking soda into a 13week old puppies mouth!) and if looked like he was starting to act strange, take him straight in. So far he has been acting pretty normal. He is eating, wanting out to play. He is on my shoulder sleeping at the minute. How long before I know there was definitely no adverse reaction. I am afraid of his tongue swelling and blocking his airways, but all looks ok so far. |
A reaction would have been within the first 30 minutes. He's fine... |
Awwww poor baby. Buddy got stung in the eye right after I got him at 14wks. I didn't know it until we got back in the house and his eye was all read and swollen. I called the vet and he said to put ice on it and the rest of what you vet suggested. After the ice the swollen went down and he was fine too. Hope your baby is fine now. |
Thanks both. I dont know if the stinger is still in his mouth. I cant see it. Could it poision him if it was still in him? |
If the stinger is still there I would think his tongue would be swollen. Run your finger across his tongue and feel for it. If he is ok I would think, no stinger. I know it's hard, these guys are so slippery and squirmmy but you'll find a way I'm sure. |
He is peeing a lot at the minute. Three big puddles in 5 minutes. They are very colourless, but still smell of pee. But his is normally more yellow. And they are bigger puddles than normal. Would it be his way of getting the toxins out? |
I hope he is ok now. Benydryl may help if not. |

I think Luig got stung yesterday I think he got stung yesterday. He was in the corner of the deck and all of a sudden he yelped and was jumping aound holding up one leg. He was kind of limping for a few minutes running around frantically. Then all of a sudden he was fine. I checked for swelling or a bump but didn't find anything. Who knows, but a little scary.:aimeeyork |
