Hi. Zeus has MVD and is managed very well with diet. He is on Denosyl SD4 and Hills LD. Treats at our houseare vegetables, fruits, cheerios, and an occasional piece of a ginger cookie!:) He turned 8 years old last week and his bloodwork came back fantastic!!! I know there isn't one definitive answer for all dogs, but when Zeus was diagnosed as a puppy, I had him on more supplements. I chose to find the minimum he could be on and be healthy and feel good so I would have more options as he ages. So far so good!!! Good luck and wishes to all who are managing liver disease in their dogs! Juliet |

Maybe YorkieLuv could help since she has gotten Miko stone free for quite some time now. I remember that she used to juice celery and zucchini fresh for each meal and pour some on top for him. |

Not sure if this would help with these types of stones  A probiotic called Azodyl www.entirelytpets. com is recommended for kidney/bladder stones. Use it at half the recommended dosages (it's marketed for kidney failure and that's what the dosages on the bottle are for). It's helped clear up crystals / stones in many dogs, as well as protein in the urine. (this was from my Yahoo Group) |
Thanks a lot for the tip on the Azodyl, that actually sounds like it could help her. I'll ask the vet about it when they call back with the Protein C results. From what I see online, it is marketed for renal failure, but seems to reduce toxin and protein buildup in the blood that causes stones--seems right on the money. Has anyone else tried this drug with any success for stones and crystals due to liver problems? |
